For me, It's a SOLID 10. I have a little framed picture of him on my night stand that I get to look at before I fall asleep and when I wake up. My back faces my girlfriend.

why didn't you vote?
Anyhow, gave him a kinda cool grade, but when the hell is Half-Life 3 coming out? Yes, I still care!
Edit: ok, I see you did vote

I voted. The wait for Half Life 3 is killing me, but I can't think about it too much or I'll end up like Famine and everyone else on the Episode 3 boards.... I don't go there anymore.... nothing wrong with Famine....I didn't vote because I don't really care about him. I care about the games, and lately I haven't been into Valve games. I really liked Portal 2, but never got into TF2 or Left for Dead. I guess there's DOTA 2, but I'm totally burned out of that. I've been playing that style of game since 2005 in Warcraft 3.
I hate to say it but Valve has turned into Microsoft in some ways. They don't create their own original IP anymore. With how much money they have, it's cheaper to just buy up a successful mod team (Counter-Strike) or college team (Portal). They still make good games, but they are not so much innovators anymore.
i didn't vote max because he could improve a few things. but he's done more than most in regards to pc gaming. nutcrackrYeah, he has done more than most, but not everything he has done has been good.

Anyway, that's my fairytale world.
Get's a 10/10 for me, nobody deserves a higher regard than Gabe in the video game business, nobody. I feel people take Valve for granted. They are imo the highest quality video game corporation with the highest amount of care for their customer base.
He was quoted somewhere that as being a developer, he views video games as a continuing service as opposed to a one time fee like many companies do. Valve games are constantly updated after their release and are often more bang for your buck to start with. They showed this with TF2, Portal, L4D series, Counter-Strike, and even Dota 2 which is in beta. Valve doesn't do "dlc" like these other companies, and they don't do "monthly fee's". Valve makes a game for the public and they support it through hell and high water. This is personally why I love Valve and why they are better than any other company to me. Nobody else comes close to that level of dedication, not Blizzard, Bethesda, Bioware, or anyone.
Not to mention the creation of Steam (thank you Gabe Newell) is what really revamped pc gaming for the better. And I am excited to see what Valve has planned for the future. I may see lots of doom and gloom predictions, but Valve has yet to let me down, so I feel as though we are in safe hands.
Lastly an honorable mention goes to CD Project Red! They seem to have the same mentality as that of Valve.
