The mac one seems really bluryFr0st3d
I think that's a problem with iShot. That or the monitor calibration was off. The actual playback was excellent. So, it may be the calibration.
I sure hope you didn't post those pics to make the MAC look good, just for the sake of actually having a fair comparison since WMP doesn't really have deinterlace by default, if it has then it certainly doesn't work, use VLC set post processing to 6 and deinterlace to blend, it should fix that flaw while preserving the other advantages of that W7 screenshot. ;)DanielDust
I have VLC and I do have deinterlacing set to blend which gives a much improved video quality. But, I was going with software that's default with the OS.

I mentioned the Mac as an 8/10 for general use. A Windows PC can range anywhere from a 5/10-9.5/10 depending on hardware (DIY or OEM) and skill of the owner. A Mac is more limited in hardware choices. It's very limited, in fact. But just like with consoles, there's a certain consistency with Macs that some people like. In fact, I'd probably also rate consoles an 8/10 while gaming PCs can range anywhere from a 6/10-9/10.
Someone rated a Mac as 4/10 for gaming. I tend to agree. It's the game availability numbers and limited high-end GPUs that kill it, at least for now.
Edit: My gaming PC would be rated at 8/10 (9/10 once I replace the 5770 with a GTX 460 or better) both for gaming and general use while my Mac Mini gets a dismal 2/10 for gaming.
My friend just bought a mac book pro for NZ$4700. I got a better desktop for $1700.IantheoneMac.... book? as in a laptop? NZ$4,700? Holy ****! I knew apple products were expensive, but unless that laptop has the processing power of a supercomputer that is just a ridiculous price.
Let me see here, Macs are overpriced with somewhat out-of-date hardware. It has been proven here that the Mac OSX gets noticabely lower frames than on Windows 7 for Portal. Its good if you want an office PC, but as for gaming, its a 3/10 for me.

I don't trust those benchmarks. Portal sounds very badly optomised. I own a PC (specs in sig) and two macs. I can run CoD:MW on a slightly worse iMac perfectly, and they can't get a decent FPS out of Portal for Mac on better hardware? That just doesn't fly in my book..
My friend just bought a mac book pro for NZ$4700. I got a better desktop for $1700.Iantheonejeez why bother paying that much for a laptop. Just buy a Dell (or whatever brand) with better specs, buy OSX and dual boot it. Half the price.

If you buy in the US, Mac Book Pro models range from US $1200-$2300.
[QUOTE="Roland123_basic"][QUOTE="monkeymoose5000"]For editing media: 9 For gaming: -8monkeymoose5000there is no difference between the media/editing programs on mac and PC these days.... Adobe CS looks and works EXACTLY the same on both platforms....Then do you know of an equivalent to Final Cut Pro? And no, not windows movie maker.
There's Sony Vegas Pro, Adobe Premier Pro, and Avid Media Composer with the last two being cross-platform and Avid being the top dog in professional broadcasting (not FCP).
On a scale of 1-10, I give macs -1, because they are simply not good in my opinion(I have my reasons), and in comparison to PCs, macs are a grain of salt ;)
Dont worry , in Singapore (SEA) , 95% of my classmates in tertiary education are tech retards and the other 5% being die hard Apple fans ... ITs so hard to tell them , DONT GET MAC , PC's BETTER .Macs are the worst pieces of technology ever invented...
Macs can run very few programs/software.
Macs cant run real 3D games!
Macs are limited in hardware.
U cant customize it!
Macs are incredible expensive!!!
..Oh yeah and about Macs being good at editing videos and music...ITS A LIEEEEE!!!!There are 596438754850934856437774384 more programs for editing videos and music on Windows...and there are about 36156361561786 more programs on windows that are better then "finalcut"...
But that is a typical american problem...guess what?yeah you guessed right...Macs sells well only in the states...but the average american consumer is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo and i mean soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo uneducated that you could sell him anything...its the same like consoles...consoles sells well only in the states(everybody buy's them in US)but if you take a look in Europe the majority of console owners are kids...The american consumers have the knowledge and the education of a 14 year European kid...and thats that!

on a scale of 1 to 10 for games I give macs a rating of potato.

Just wondering what the demographics are for those responding here especially those who's throwing flak at the Mac. Are they PC gamers, console gamers, or both? If they're console gamers, I'd find it strange that they're dissing the Mac when there's a lot of similarities. A Mac for general computing would be the closest thing to what a console is for gaming.
Me? I'm predominantly a PC gamer for now with a few games for consoles. I also own a Toshiba laptop and a Mac Mini. Why a Mac? Well, I've always been a multi-platform type of guy. I spent a very long time on Commodore Amigas alongside consoles and PCs.
