I found this trick on this blog so hear me out.

Grab a sound splitter, plug your open back cans ex. ad700, hd5xx, akg 2/7xx, etc, and the w.e wire that leads to the subwoofer.

CC400Y_LR.jpg (I like mines gold plated, but I use my fiio since I dont have splitters at home :P)

Now plug those bad boys into your soundcard, dac, so you can see where Im going with this. You may need to adjust volume, eq to get it to your liking.

Go play your fav music now, so you have the clarity of an open back plus the real thump of a sub. Dont puke too many rainbows now.

I'll entertain this, to do this right you would need to use the subwoofer's low level pass. That way the sound can pass through the sub's crossover. :P

I've been entertaining this idea using a transducer like Aura's Bass Shaker. I use headphones primarily not to disturb my wife watching television in the next room so a regular sub wouldn't cut it. I just never found an amp setup I liked for the Bass Shaker. Bass Shakers are awesome, by the way. Boz

Sounds potentially dangerous to the drivers. Better off. With a proper amp, IMO.
