I still have my doubts about this game. They go on about no HUD when there are yellow arrows pointing out targets and other things!! You can see everything including your position and enemy positions and which way they are facing on the map. Fail Codemasters.

I hope you can turn off those things. I enjoy the realism of such things as ARMAII, where you have to pinpoint where the bullets are coming from. It can be truly terrifying being shot at, not knowing from where.
I'm getting ARMA 2 soon, I was waiting for some patches after ARMA (1) glitches, and I might get this if I can play a demo, I'm not going to be terribly disappointed if it isn't sim quality because it will still be more realistic than most games and it looks pretty fun

It's a great game. It does require some optimisation to get running nicely though. I didn't find much difference in quality between High and Very High. OPF: DR looks like they have made it more arcade. Unless they give the option to turn arrows and hints off. Due to it being Codemasters, it will not have some of the issues that ARMA2 has. Such as performance problems, ATI graphics issues etc.
That's the difference between a big dev team and a small dev team. BI being a small team, have done well with ARMA2 despite it's bugs.
If Codemasters release a bug ridden product, they should not be forgiven since they are a larger dev team.
I only just saw the youtube hardcore mode. That changes things a lot about this game. That will be the only true way to play it. Hopefully it's going to be an available option from the start, and not some unlockable.
I have hopes for this game - but count me out of hardcore mode.
I just want to have fun when I'm playing a game. Some of these damned hardcore simulations that are on the market just frustrate me. I don't have 100 hours on my hands to learn how to pick up a weapon and load it with ammunition.
Just give me a rifle, and point me in the direction of the enemy, thanks.
That looked like the PC version to me - are you saying it wasn't?I wish they would show the PC verison for once.

[QUOTE="Wasdie"]That looked like the PC version to me - are you saying it wasn't? I've not been the biggest fan of OF2, and that did look like the PC version to me, too. Specifically the aiming movement - it seemed a bit too snappy to be a controller. You'd see a target, and the cursor would pretty much zap to a specific spot and just stop with no small corrections.I wish they would show the PC verison for once.

At least your honest. I admit there are annoying times in ARMA2 where I get shot without knowing where it came from. I have sworn a lot with fustration in that game. I'm still learning to command my squad. They love to die on me which fails my mission. Unfortunately the steam version didn't have a user manual so I've just been guessing my way through.

Have you tried right clicking on the game in your Steam 'My Games' tab?
Have you played Operation Flashpoint? I'm guessing not, since it was a realistic FPS... So I wonder why you're interested in this one? Even without hardcore mode it's not going to be an arcadish game such as CoD4.... I'm sure 1-2 hits from 300 yards away is still going to kill you and force you to restart the level.I have hopes for this game - but count me out of hardcore mode.

I still play OFP 1 on a regular basis with some of my friends and I can say that I'm dissapointed with this game. This isn't OFP2, this is some rip off that has the same name as another GREAT game. This looks like an arcadey piece of crap. The so called "hardcore mode" looks like rookie mode on OFP1. The aiming doesn't seem to have the whole OFP "loose" aiming style, instead its more like convential FPS. Not to mention it's using a racing game's engine (EGO Engine -- GRiD, DiRT, F1 2009, etc) so I don't know how well it will ACTUALLY perform.
@the people thinking this is the pc version:
1. The aiming is much similar to any console game
2. The way to order AI around would not be done with a 4 directional circle (that's for D-Pads). If it was on PC it would be using the keyboard with a list of commands similar to OFP, ArmA and ArmA2
3. This looks rather low resolution judging by the HUD compared to the overall game
THEREFORE, it's the console version

Watch the other videos, the guy took about 3 shots to the head and lived.I have hopes for this game - but count me out of hardcore mode.
