The game is on sale for $2.49 (96%) at the moment on Gamersgate, so far the style really intrigues me. How difficult is it for one to get the used to the gameplay and what's the replay value?

It takes a bit of learning, but the game is great and can have near endless replayability especially if you are interested in the time period. I believe there are a ton of mods as well.

its not really difficult to learn the gameplay, and the replay value is unlimited with all the awesome mods that is still pumping out today.

the most popular one atm is Third Age Total War which turns it into a LOTR game

one thing to note is that the game only uses one core of ur cpu, so ur likely to get crappy performance compared with more

recent TW titles

Grab it with the kingdoms addon, and also get the Third Age mod as stated above, and hundreds of hours will be had for only a few dollars

Then this is a total steal considering it's the Gold Edition, which comes with the Kingdoms addon! Alright, thanks for the info everyone. :D

This is a really fun game, in my opinon.

Like all the Total War games you should allow for a fairly sharp learning curve in the beginning. There are a lot of aspects to take in and keep track of, but once you have the basics down it becomes a ton of fun.

And the replay value is fairly high, playing through the campaign as various nations.

Still my favorite total war game to date. At that price, it's highway robbery. I feel sorry for Gamersgate. :P jk
