I'm running at 1900 by 1200, which is pretty close to 1080p(yes I realize the difference is thousands of pixels). My next monitor will likely be 1440p but that won't be for a while, prob when the 800 series come out.Brean24Im still packing a GTX 560 OC'ed to 560ti performance, haven't seen a real need to upgrade it yet.
I can max every game, however some games like Crysis 2, Skyrim with graphics mods, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and a few other graphically intensive games do dip below 60 frames per seconds from time to time.Brean24Crysis 2 check the tessellation, and download the fix to make it less demanding, Skyrim with alot of graphicsa mod is most likley using up all your video memory,
i'll post you my overclocking settings so you can see where to go from. I have the exact same video card as you as well, the evga 680gtx.
First you should download evga precision x, its a tool to overclock your card and it will apply your overclocking settings every time you start your pc up. Other tools can overclock your card as well.
heres my settings:
Power Target: 132%
GPU Clock Offset: +150 mhz
MEM Clock Offset: +385 mhz
Fan Speed Auto
Now you may not be able to go with the same settings, even though we have the same card, they never clock exactly the same, and it depends on available power, motherboard and maybe when your video card was made would be a different stock then mine likely since i got mine at first release. My temps under full stress rarely go above 75c or so... since this cards specs state that it should not run above a temp of 97c, you can rest easy at anything below 80c.
(these are conservative settings, i'm happy with stable settings but im sure you can overclock far beyond this if had better cooling... but i found troubles putting it much higher then this without distortions)
Hi pal...:)
If u r playing with a GTX680, u'll probably have every game maxed out at 1080p without even overclocking it. So until you find this GPU lagging below 60fps at high settings at 1080p, it's always better not to overclock it. U actually own a beast and i guess it won't be necessary to overrun it beyond clock rates.
Happy gaming pal....:)
If i'm not mistaken, doesn't the GTX600 series have a new feature that dynamically overclocks it?trastamad03Yeah, but people like us want MOAR!!

I overclocked a number of 600 series cards for friends and fam... They tend to get 150 MHz on the core and 400 MHz on the mem.
70c is when it starts to throttle. So your best off getting a custom cooled card that isn't reference, with a slight factory OC because it's binned higher then stock chips. Then work your way from there.
I use EVGA Percision X for overclocking because it's stupid easy. And the EVGA OC scanner is really nice too.
the 680 will not max every game at 1080p. Even my 7970 has trouble getting sleeping dogs past 45 fps, and thats with some settings like AA brought down to high instead of extreme. Crysis 2, same story only 45 fps all settings completely maxed out at 1080p. A 680 does worse than a 7970, so I dont understand how you can max all games. Definitely set an overclock profile for your games, or be prepared to tone down the settings.
How do you know all this if you dont own a GTX 680?the 680 will not max every game at 1080p. If i'm not mistaken, doesn't the GTX600 series have a new feature that dynamically overclocks it?trastamad03Yeah they do. And that one does not follow what nVidia has said. At least not for me. If I am to get stock turbo speed on my card, I have to set it down 75MHz. The factory OC however is only 50MHz. Also my card doesn't stay at 1124 on factory settings like it was supposed to. It likes 1137 and 1152MHz more than 1124.

because the 7970 has trouble in these games and I own a 7970 and have played through all of both of these games. Also here is sleeping dogs, the settings for this game aren't even maxed out but all video cards still struggle to pass 60fps.

My main point isn't that the 7970 is faster (although it is), it is that this chart shows that a high end card can not max out every game at 1080p and 60 fps. The chart shows average frame rates not minimum frame rates.
Please..... quit being an AMD lapdog. The performance difference between a 680 and 7970 ghz is within 7%. Also sleeping dogs plays just fine with Nvidia cards AMD cards tend to have lower minimum framerates with the game.[QUOTE="04dcarraher"]

You're the fanboy, everytime something AMD is posted showing better fps you get your panties in a bunch. With the latest AMD drivers I can't find a game that DOESNT have AMD on top in every single time. You can post older benchmarks from 7 months ago like most other nvidia fanboys, but your credibility goes out the window. Just like superclock3d, 04cadharrher, yourself, and a few others who are hardcore nvidia fanboys.
I chose sleeping dogs because it proved my point that even the highest end card can't max out every game. Overclocking a 680 won't help it get from 36fps to 60 fps in this game. The best you can hope for is 40-45fps with the best overclocks.

 your so full of yourself with AMD its not even funny and you give opinions as facts. Which is why no one takes you seriously. My poor GTX 560 with Sleeping dogs at 1680x1050 with all settings maxed besides AA its on normal, minimum 34 fps, averages 55 FPS, maxes at 66.Fact is that the 7970ghz and GTX 680(stock) performance is close enough that 5% difference on average means little to nothing at all.

No you just wanted an excuse to post the benchmarks. He mentions overclocking a 680 and you run your mouth for no reason how the 7970 is better out of nowhere, sad...really...Eh? I get much more than 45 FPS with Crysis 2 maxed at 1200P. I don't think I'd a problem with Sleeping Dogs either.the 680 will not max every game at 1080p.
