Hi, I am thinking about maybe overclocking amd 64 x2 4200 2.2 ghz...Question is should I, Or Can I even do it.....Thanks in Advandced

Depending on your motherboard, it's possible to overclock those chips. I had an X2 4400+ 24/7 stable at 2.65ghz, and my best friend had a 4200+ stable at 2.7. However, I don't think it's worth it. Athlon 64 X2's are pretty long in the tooth at this point, and the 300 to 500mhz that you gain won't net you much extra performance in most of the latest games. Games from 2006-2008 may see a nice boost.

Depending on your motherboard, it's possible to overclock those chips. I had an X2 4400+ 24/7 stable at 2.65ghz, and my best friend had a 4200+ stable at 2.7. However, I don't think it's worth it. Athlon 64 X2's are pretty long in the tooth at this point, and the 300 to 500mhz that you gain won't net you much extra performance in most of the latest games. Games from 2006-2008 may see a nice boost.

The only Athlon 64 x2's that had unlocked multipliers were the FX series.
