PC GAMER REVIEW: BioShock 2

PC Gamer gave BioShock 2 a 90% and labeled it as an Editor's Choice. They wrote, "Similar and slightly improved mechanics make this a worthy sequal, despite a sadly less-memorable story."

Although I thought the original BioShock was amazing, I for whatever reason simply could not get around to finishing it. There was something about it that eventually made it boring to me. Perhaps I found it repetitive, even though it really probably wasn't.

Anyways, it looks like the game is living up to its hype for the most part so far. Thoughts?

Well i thought the story in the first game was pretty meh, therefore i might like the story more. I am pretty hypef for those slightly improve mechanics. Do you have access to the review right now? Can you give me mroe info about the game?dakan45

They wrote a lot, and I wouldn't really know what to write about, although it does say that you play as a Bid Daddy Alpha and that you are chemically bound to a little sister - but that is probably common knowledge at this point.

Loved the first one, this looks to be more of the same, I think it came out too early.couly

The first one had some of hte best atmosphere around and a fantastic story, but the gameplay and variety could have been slightly better.

Hope part2 improves on Part1 like ME2 did over ME1!

As long as the story is good, the atmosphere is good and there is a little more variety ill be happy.

Nope, its actually good since there are no worries that you wont like the game, oh well i was hoping for improved graphics, besides all those "improved sequels" and PC gamer giving it such a high rating, is easilly a reason for the game to have such a high ratings, because i dont know if i have mentioned it, but it also plays alot like the first, there are no "screaming" improvements or new features apart from the fact that you are a big daddy which is something that i dont know if its necessary good or bad, i would prefer to be a normal person instead! But anyway whats the point of defending the game for not having visibly superior graphics than the first? I mean its not a bad thing but its most definetly not a thing to be proud of and thankfull for!!

How about we play the game first before we say it has no improvement in graphics or gameplay. Pictures and online video can only show you so much.

yes but as i said before.. we have not played the game yet... pictures and videos dont tell the full story.

Uncharted2 and ME2 didnt look that great to me before they came out base don screenshots but after playing the games myself, I was blown away.

playing the game yourself >> pictures and low quality vids imo.

The game might look worse or better when we play it, only time will tell.

Well i have to admit that when i everyone was like "ZOMG uncharted 2 will be graphics king!!"..... i was like "come on, it does not look that much better than the previous" So you migh be right there bud;)

I am with the OP on this one.

While I did finish the original, it became some what of a chore towards the end. I dunno, great game but just boring at times I guess.

I am happy to have the sequal sit fir a while and go down in price, while I finish:

Dragon Age (hopefully a second play through too) + Expansions

At least you can go through this again without caring about consequence. They once again have chambers that bring you back to life. Although I do hope they do what they did in the PC patch, and that is make them optional.

PSM gave it 93% and said that it tops "he original in terms of storytelling and combat." so hopefully they're right.

and for people complaining about the graphics, who cares? that is one of the few things that doesnt need to be improved.

Having played the first installment and absolutely loved it like I did, buying this sequel is absolutely mandatory; already pre-ordered on Steam, and got a Bioshock 1 gift to give to someone. Two for the price of one, and with a 10% discount... :P

Oh, BTW: I don't care for MP, I'm a radical SP gamer. In fact, as far as I am concerned the game should have none.

Ok, bioshock 2 is removing stuff just like mass effect 2 and cod mw2.

No more crafting :cry: I mean come on, it was not great but they could have improved that mechanic and make it much more efficient!

i dont have any problem with the single,in fact i am sayin te first one have one of the best games story mode.

but in 2..i am not sure they can reboot the succeses..

my friends the days of companies making really huge leaps and bounds with sequels is long dead.. small improvements should be celebrated really. because those who only make those leaps n bounds are those still behind the rest of the world..
