Hey there, I just recently hooked my pc up to my 42 inch Panasonic plasma hdtv. everything run great though my video card only supports up to 1280 by 720 as the resolution, but that's okay I'll probably upgrade soon. Okay my problem is everything seem to work fine, except when I try and play my pc games. Command and conquer 3 for example, and Counter strike soure. I get the audio, and I can hear the sounds of the menu....but it's a black screen, so im thinking maybe its a open gl problem or i need to switch the game to a different setting, but I cant see anythin so no luck. My pc is fairy good, 120 gb hard drive 2.8 p4 with 2 gb of ddr ram and my video card is a ati radeon 1950 pro 512 mg. Id like to play Crysis and such when I get a new card but for now I don't understand why it wont play cnc3. Any help would be great thanks.

black screen, did you update your video drivers, i always do that first, then check that cable with another device, just to make sure. if it is the game it could possibly be that the res it is set to is wrong, try using normal monitor and vga or dvi cable and set the res for games to something tv supports.

Plasma matrix for 42" has native 1024x768 resollution. Any further 1280x768 or 1366x768 will not work on it (check manual for your TV). And dont forget to put 75Hz refresh rate - not more.

The problem is that some games (example Half-Life 2) dont have 16x9 option so everything becomes "fat". I played Jericho and Kane & Lynch - they have this option so you can run them 1024x768 in 16x9 format.

50" plasma tv's dont have this issue because their matrix resollution is 1366x768. They will run with small grey stripes at sides because PC has only 1360x768 resollution.

I have seen 42 inch plasma's playing crysis in full hd so obviously the tv can handle it, I think it's just the games settings need to be 100% fixed with my resolution, cause my tv works beautiful with it just the games that havent worked yet. but thanks.

Yeah - if you have full hd plasma, it supports any possible resollution up to 1920x1080 because matrix for full hd tv has 1920x1080 native resollution.
