My pc games are starting to lock up, everything freezes & the sound starts to loop. Only way out is a hard restart, any ideas?

I'm using an nVidia G-Force 6800 512mb AGP
1gb ram (1x 1gb PC2700 DDR 333MHz)
Windows XP blah blah
AMD Athlon XP 2800+ 2.1ghz processor (haha)

What else do you need to know?

That is kind of indicative of the video card heating up.... hmmm..... i had that problem, i put a vga slot cooler in my system and it stopped hanging up.
