PC games/gamers tick me off! (ENVY)

Because your games look SO FREAKING GOOD! I just got done looking at the stick "What were you just playing" or something like that thread and it just made me depressed. You see, I'm a console guy, always have been, and my 360 just doesn't come anywhere close to standing up graphically to the PC. PLUS there is so much more variety on the PC, I just haven't run into the small fortune in recent years to build a pc :) plus my wife probably wouldn't let me spend the money on one now anyways. You guys have so many options for your gaming experiences. Plus, mods are pretty much the coolest thing in all of gaming because they can reinvigorate old titles.

Anyways, I guess I just want you to know that I wish I could join you in all your high res glory and hopefully one day I will :P

Same here although my participating in graphics threads might say otherwise. :lol: For me, physics and accuracy count the most. Hence, my preoccupation with flight sims.

It's really not that expensive.

:D Yeah! I'd love to see how that ended up for me.

But on another note, I really didn't mean for this post to make some people angry, it was mainly for fun and to introduce myself a little to the community seeing as I'm thinking of trying to get into the pc scene.

Also, this wasn't entirely a post about graphics, I did mention the variety of games (which does encompass the indies and the like). For instance Legend of Grimrock which I'm pretty excited about. It's like one of those old school dungeon crawlers like Eye of the Beholder and a might and magic title that I can't place right now. And you guys also get some of the cooler shooters like Serious Sam BFE (love it or hate it I like old school style shooter that just throw enemies at you to kill mercilessly; I think they are fun and a good time killer) not to mention the awesome looking Red Orchestra 2. Not just awesome looking in graphics but I mainly mean the realism of gameplay and the fact that I really like WW2 games and movies. That game alone is one of the reasons I really want to try to get into PC gaming.

Yeah mate I don't know why people are so up themselves,Anyway I just got back on the PC from being away from it for a while and getting new PC(money was tight), And I like all the different types of games on PC and how you can upgrade and tweak it.

Your obviosuly bad in math too, since PC gaming is more economical the more games you purchase and play if u were to compare it to buying the same number of games on console. The cheaper price of PC games more than compensates for the upfront fee of a pc

I like consoles because you get to sit on your couch ... lol you could hook your pc up too a 40" hidef and a xbox commons control , but who does that...issicus2

I hate hearing that excuse for not going into PC gaming. Of "It costs a small fortune"...no it doesn't,

buying a nice boat is a small fortune. If you are an adult with A job you have plenty of money to

buy yourself a kick ass PC. I mean it is like 2 pay checks and that is if you are getting payed

minimum wage. Even if you are starting from scratch it is still ONLY going to cost you around

$1000 max for a top of the line PC.

For an adult with a job there is no excuse for not having enough money for a PC, unless you

are terrible with money and your financial situation.

I know right, everyone is always complaining or super ignorant about something which forces people to tell

I've got a laptop that does alright; I actually bought Killing Floor and Oblivion last night and they work great! I'm just looking to upgrade sometime in the future is all. But the one poster is right, I do have a family, which is why saving up $1000 is tough especially this time of year :P But also, I do spend a lot of time with them and still enjoy games. It's funny how people get so personal on these threads :) I think we all just need to lighten up a bit huh?

But thanks for all the replies; I will definitely be saving to try to buy a better rig one of these days, but for now I will just play titles that look good enough of the settings I can handle, not to mention I have to get used to controlling things with a keyboard because I'm still a little *derp* about that.

Steam is cool though, and one poster talked about how much cheaper games are for PC, I think the one who said I was bad at math ;) and in some cases that's true. Honestly, my console games I rarely pay more than $12 for because I buy used from gamestop MOST of the time; last night though I got Oblivion GOTY on steam for $5 which is still like $15 savings compared to a used copy at Gamestop for my 360. So yeah, there are definitely savings to be had.

Just about any laptop can run most of the indie games but to get teh graphx you are going to have to drop some dollars :P

If you don't want to build it then just buy the parts seperately and drop it off at a computer shop. You'll still save some money that way.

I'm waiting till after I graduate from BT in May to build a comp but even my crappy laptop still plays a mryiad of games on low/medium settings.

Even if you have a weak computer, there are plenty of really awesome old games you could play. Plenty of todays sequels are inferior to their forebearers. What is your current computer equipped with?

I think the graphics card is a ATI mobility Radeon HD 4530. I have 2GB of ram I think. But yeah, I can run Oblivion on High Settings, and anything that came out before it runs really smooth as well. I haven't even tried any of the newer or more graphics heavy games yet, but it's quite a decent laptop imo. What are some older games you'd suggest?
