People who prefer console games are spreading paranoia about dying PC gaming. For example on Xfire forums i haven`t seen a topic like PC gaming is dying or PC gaming is dead. Many people still play CS, WOW, and even ET scene isn`t dead in Europe. PC gameing won`t die so soon if it will, it will take at least 15 years.mazare

Alas..you couldnt hide the Drak side of your post....PCs will NEVER die man. Hell look at onsoles, THEY are actually dead(except a few) since they are getting more and more PCized every new generation.

The PC, as a format, always wins and it always wins because it keeps waits out the competition. It's amorphous. Maybe next-gen PCs will play 360 games, or there will be no discs at all? PC games also tend to be more sophisticated and interactive; I just can't see doing Age of Empires 3, Evil Genius, Warcraft 3, Black and White 2, or The Movies on the Xbox 360.
The real question is, what will next-gen PC games look like? I've seen early renders of Unreal 3 stuff, and it's ridiculously detailed. Can you imagine what will happen when we think 360 games, like Call of Duty 2, look simple and ugly?

why do you keep making these types of threads :? We get it....PC gaming is alive like frankenstein! :P

shotgat said: "pc gaming will never die...because pcs always keep going up with tecnology same as the gaming consoles"

disagree, consoles dont "keep up" at all with technology, they releasea new one every 5 years so shove it all in one console and expect ignorance of consumers ftw. Whereas with PC gaming, your upgrading WITH technology every year or whatever. PC's get it first imho.

i think aslong as we have computers to continue writting games for consoles.. consoles should live into the future.. i think the only upside to a console is its simplicity for people who like the occasional game.. they can just put a game in and play instantly without having an extense knowledge about hardware, software, internet and so on.. its for that reason i think consoles will always be around.. but they will NEVER overtake PC's as it is pc's that are used to creat and design the technologies for consoles/

Somone will say PC gaming is dead every year. Just like someone will say consoles are dead, or Rock is dead, or Rap or is dead. It's not even worth talking about. PC gaming is an amazing medium for gaming and will continue to be into the future. Just because somone has a biased opinion about the PC doesn't change anything.

With Microsoft dominating both the PC and the Console market i sincerely doubt that anything is going to "Die" anytime soon. I mean seriously, most companies don't exclusively do PC or console stuff. Sony, Microsoft, EA, and a lot of other companies have a very good incentive for making sure that people try to buy console and PCs (it makes them MORE MONEY - which is the entire reason these companies exist). Any idiot who thinks PC gaming is dead probably doesn't understand how companies work. Even graphics card companies and hard-drive companies and HD-DVD/Blue-Ray companies want consoles and PCs to buy their products. It often means one person will have two of their product. Anyway, RTS games will always be better on the PC.

Sorry, I just have to add one more comment. People who think they're clever by saying that "PCs make Console Games" should look at the title of the post. "PC GAMING ISN'T DEAD". Obviously computers are always going to be around. Movies are made from PCs, that doesn't mean you have to watch movies on PCs. A lot of games made "ON PCs" aren't even released on the PC (Because they're incompatible - think Wii). Please realize that programming a game on a PC and playing a graphics intensive game on the PC are completely different things.

PC gaming isn't dead but it is in decline mainly because of consoles coming of age and getting a whole lot better then they used to be. You buy a console game, you stick it in, it works but this is not always the case with PCs.

Publishers can make more money on console than on PC, lots of industry people have said this.

in decline??? ermm.. have u not heard of DX10?? its probably less talked about but certainly not on a decliner..i bet soon as the first couple of dx10 games come out the pc gaming world will go nuts!! and pc games have a MUCH MUCH broader industry! soon as a new game comes out millions of pc gamers world wide flock to their local pc shops to buy the upgrades needed to play the new games! so not only do the companies like nVIDIA and ATI and so on make a $h!t load of money so do all the stores selling their products.. however once u buy an xbox thats it! no need to upgrade software or hardware.. pc's are the leader in gaming it would be very blind sightedand stupid to think otherwise its not even an argument!

i am sure there was a report back that said pc game sales were on the increase in america (and i still don't think they took all the money cashed in from MMOs and digital distribution). over in europe pc gaming is huge.

One thing to think about. Valv have said they have 13 million users. thats more than xbox live. f%^&ing beat that. hell world of warcraft has around 8 million subscribers.

2 years from now the PC WILL be well ahead of consoles......in fact with the rising costs, and xbox lossing money, and the PS3 not doing as well as everyone thought, it might be the powerful consoles that die andwe'll be left with the PC and consoles like the wii

also u dont have to pay $16(aus) for every single map pack that comes out.. u can just download it straight of the net..

the xbox live market place is the BIGGEST scam since itunes.. you even have to pay for themes and those little cruddy gamer pics lol thats just sad!

PC games were up a staggering 48% year on year increase in Q1 (but World of warcraft probably had a lot to do with this)............

The thing is that a console costs half the money a good computer does. More specifically the latest graphics cards cost about as much a new console so of course a powerful pc is better than a console but also more expensive. This is the main idea behind consoles anyways. That and the fact that consoles concentrate mostly on gaming rather than working-browsing the net.

So its relatively cheaper and therefore more accessible to casual gamers. This subsequently makes developing companies make more games for consoles, but high budget games are usually developed for pc as well and are graphically superior. Also there is the issue of user created content that improves games and is easy and free to obtain for pc users.

So none of the two will "die". It's simply a matter of preference and budget.

Almost every PC gamer has heard about DirectX 10. Maybe PC gaming over the past year has had a little bit of a revival but you can't really say that because some MMORPG's are doing well the whole industry is. Microsoft and ID Software said that they've seen their sales fall. Why do you think Microsoft has come out with this "Games for Windows" thing, to boost sales of Windows games. Less people using PCs for gaming the less users of Windows.

I never said PC games weren't the leader and don't call me stupid. PC games are the leader but publishers are recognising that they can make a lot more money on the consoles and they are flocking over to the consoles. Even ID Software the champions of PC gaming are now making a game for console, who knows if it's coming to PC or not.
