Yesterday, my computer was doing fine everythin was great until at one point, my background desktop items didnt show up at all and also the taskbar on the bottom disappeared completely, i cant even rick click on it...i tried to do a system restore on safe mode, but the same issue occurs in safe mode, the only way i am able to see websites or open programs is to open the task manager CTRL, ALT, DEL and click on file and then new task run...i also tried running explorer.exe and when it ran everythin was back to normal but the next second it just disappeared and kept reappearing and it ended up gone just like b4....is there anyway i can fix this?

sounds like your throttling your cpu.. meaning its constantly running at 100% which isnt good. or you have a hardware issue.

thats weird b/c the cpu usage never gets higher than 40% and im not sure about the hardware issue, maybe is just that dust constantly gathers up on the power supply and the heatsink fan but i always clean it every 2-4 weeks...could it be somethin else? since im guessin explorer is the only problem?

hrmm, never above 40% then its not cpu throttling, however cpu throttling will give the exact same symptons.
I had a machine come in, it wouldnt even boot to windows sometimes, then 5 reboots later it would..then the hard drives wouldnt get picked up, then it would hang on the windows loading screen..it was the power supply not providing enough power for the entire system..replaced and worked fine since, it was only a year old.

do you have any virus's? spyware?
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm , you can use this to do a scan, it will remove and virus's it finds, it will find spyware but not remove it, atleast will tell you if your machine is clean or not. (only works in IE and wont work at all for vista)

R u running vista? vista is filled with various bugs, maybe this is another of those.
R u running vista and have installed google desktop tools etc. if so, these create issues as well.

without more specific information
