Hiya i was just wondering whether you think its worth waiting for AMD to release their next line of processors before upgrading my pc? I say this because i think they are going to be releasing some crazy powerful 4 core processor, but i dont know how reasonable the price will be. Also will they have a diverse range of powers (going from cheep and chearful too uber powerhouse) with their next range of processors?

Waiting for the so said processors is irrelevant if you ask me, I mean how can you tell if their will or wont be a 6 core possessors by next month or so

Following up what is available now is the right way to go

And you could have up to a year or two before you upgrade from double core to higher processors by the time they become essential rather then optional as they are now (Most applications works fine still on normal possessors with out having to upgrade to double core so double core will be sufficient at the time being)

It also depends on how you actually use your pc

If you are a gamers such as myself for example you should be more concerned with the latest graphic and GPU technologies which affects more then the possessor, and even here with the new DirectX 10 Cards released such as NVIDIA 8800 the question remains should I or shouldn't I

My way is simple and it's up to you to consider it or not

It goes like this "Don't go and buy what is new right away, give it some time, it'll go cheaper afterwards and if any conflicted or problem is monitored you'll get to know"

The thing is, these companies don't do spontaneous things, they have roadmaps of what they are planning, even years ahead.. so we KNOW what to expect.... now here's the irony of what you are saying, you say that what's coming up is irrelevant, so that's implying that you should just buy now and not wait for anything, yet you say "Following up what is available now is the right way to go" and end off with "it goes like this "Don't go and buy what is new right away, give it some time, it'll go cheaper afterwards and if any conflicted or problem is monitored you'll get to know", so what is it, wait or get now? I personally think a little procrastination can have its benefits when you have information to back it up, eg. hold up until the intel price drops to get an e6600, wait for benchmarks of the HD 2900 xt to see if its worth buying in comparison to the 8800 gts or gtx.

You got a point there jfelisario, Sorry !!

I didn't mean to be so vague and conflict,  but a subject like that requires a lot of explaining and I guess I just cut short

What I did mean is that you can buy what is trust worthy at the market now, following the latest could be frustrated somehow,

I could give you a slight example to clear things out a little bit

when I first heard that DirectX10 and how it was expected soon I didn't wait for it to upgrade my NVIDIA Card From 6800 GS to 7800 though I knew that by the time the New DX10 Cards are released I'll be forced to upgrade my card again so I bought what was new in the market at that point which was the Geforce 7800 GS, there was another card which was expected from  ATi at that period of time two (don't recall which X was it) but it was supposed to be released within a month time and there was some Fuzz about it, but since I was not the type to buy things at their first release then it ment to wait up to 2 month if I wanted to buy an ATI card which I didn't

I hope I didn't mess things up again trying to make my point

Haha, sure beats Barcelona task manager 4 core cpu usage history "leaks"... or 45nm wafers.Â
