build a pc, you get more performance for the money, and then get one of those programs to allow installation of mac osx on it, best of both worlds :Dpsychoman0056
Would you mind explaining further about a program that allows you to do that? Thanks.
OP, you brought a knife to a gun fight.
These are PC forums so just about eveyone will tell you that Macs are good at two things; being no good and good for nothing.
Honestly both PCs and Macs have their pros and cons, however, being that these are PC forums you will only hear PC pros and Mac cons.
Don't ask me what the pros and cons are, I realy don't feel like maintaining a flame shield tonight.

Thats pretty inconvenient, and if the user will primarily run Windows, then there isnt any point in paying the Mac hardware premium.

Inconvenient? Do you even know what Bootcamp is? Lol, and windows would NOT be the primary OS, it would only be used for gaming.

Macs are even more overpriced that retail PC and your money doesn't go as far. Barely any games for it and Mac fanboys get on my nerves (cause they know nothing about computers and think they know everything cause they have a Mac)
PC FTW
I will give someone the benefit of the doubt if they go to apple.com and show me one computer is worth the money they charge. Oh and dont give me "they have a monitor" Cr@p. I dont care if they have a 100 inch monitor it doesnt justify why most everything else is 2-3 years outdated. For sakes they have a 2400XT in a $1000 dollar computer. They are the worlds best con artist I ever seen. NOW If those pc's were like $200-$500 maby.
As far as I know macs are more useful from a production standpoint; Visual and audio media production and creation. Ofcourse you can do the same with a pc, but there are certain programs that are only for mac which are very popular. They also seem to be a bit more user friendly than a pc.
FYI: Putting a mac os on a pc is illegal, and not easy to do in the first place.[QUOTE="XaosII"][QUOTE="tequilasunriser"][QUOTE="PyroPice"]most every game i snot compatible wih mac, so if games are a route you wanna take pcs are your only real optiontequilasunriser

Im failing to see what is convenient about bootcamp since it requires a restart each time you want to switch.

Its interesting you say that. Final Cut Pro is a fairly popular vidoe editing tool, but it is developed by Apple. It has nothing to really do with the Mac hardware; just a false exclusitivity because Apple prefers to keep it only on their platform.
I've heard several people make the claims you have about Macs are better for video/audio/graphic design, yet i havent found one preson that would actually provide proof to those claims.
If its just a matter of Final Cut Pro, then i'm failing to see that as a bonus since thats just Apple being cheap. FCP would be just as capable on a Windows machine.

true macs are used for video/audio but once 3d animation is concerned its all pc based

exactly, for the extra price of the mac you could buy the adobe complete suit which has everything you will ever need in the creative world and you will still have $$ left over. final cut pro is just like premere pro, and funny how photoshop cs3 opens faster and runs better on a dual core pc than a dual dual core mac pro
Macs are only good for Graphics Design.superkoolstud
but illustrator, photshop, dreamweaver, flash are the industry standard and are all on pc and will mostly run better since pc hardware tends to be better
Yea, final cut pro would be just as capable on a windows machine. That's just the thing though; it would be, but it isn't. Mac keeps it's programs for itself. They use their software to sell their hardware. Suppose I should have said that they're actually better, but used more by for their programs rather than their look or power.
It's not just a claim either, each time I see graphic design or some type of video editing being done in person it's usually on a mac, wether I see it on tv, in online tutorials or whatnot, and the designers that I know myself, use macs for designing. I don't know why they use them, they just do.
lawl macs suck pcs pwn macs lawl...come on guys that's what some people sound like...
Macs are alright, but I would only get one for a laptop.

Do you plan to switch between the two every minute? Whats so hard about turning your machine off to switch to the gaming OS? You must one lazy sob.
You'd only use it to game and its not like you couldn't use it for anyting else.

Its all the little things, have you actually sat down with a Mac and actually got to use all of its features? Sure there is a lot of extra stuff that you don't need but thats what you are paying for Plus only Macs can run their OS (obviously). That emulated Mac crap is exactly that, crap.
Ever see someone build a 4k gaming rig that is pimped out with neon lights that make it look like something out of The Fast and the Furious when they could have spend 3k less for nearly the same performance with a different component set up? I see it here all the time and while some DO chastise those people for over spending, many applaud the rig.
2-5x the price? Oh, I've got to see this. I'll bet you can't show me an Apple computer that is even just twice the price of a comparative PC, let alone three, four, or even five times the price. Remember, comparative. Don't post a bunch of Newegg parts and link me to the iMac, unless you can install all those components inside the monitor.so why buy a mac for 2-5x the price and run windows?

You failed to describe what part of Bootcamp was convinient at all. All you did was resort to personal attacks. That does not counter may claim of it being inconvenient. Maybe you can try again.

Do you make it a point to not actually refute anyone points and just say what you want to say regardless of whatever someone has asked?
How does "all the little things" have anything to do with proving Macs are better than PC, especially after mentioning that macs do, in fact, have extraneous features.
And your second point is irrelevant. How other people frivolously spend their money has no bearing on what makes a Mac better than a PC. If anything all you are proving is that the PC provides a greater range of price points. :?
pc's are better. you can customize them, the OS isn't crippled, they cost a lot less.shoeman12
Explain how the mac OS is crippled.

What does saying some people spend $4000 for a PC prove? They have the option to spend that much, and they also have he option to spend less. With a mac, you don't have the option, you have to spend more.
One more point. The Macs will charge 200 dollars for 2 gigs of ram.

The iMac uses laptop components in a desktop monitor. You can't properly compare a desktop PC to an iMac because you're not comparing the same hardware - it's the same reason you can't compare a laptop to a desktop machine. And I really hope you're not stupid enough to try and compare a desktop PC to the Mac Pro.
Yes, some of the hardware is overpriced. But given how easy it is to change out RAM in an iMac, I don't see why anyone with a reasonable amount of common sense wouldn't change the RAM out themself.
I've got a mission for you. Find me a comparable Windows machine to the iMac (ie: Gateway One, Dell XPS One) and see how "overpriced" the iMac is. Make sure you do an accurate comparison now, no undercutting. Have fun!

well what I mean is way more.
mac book pro base model = $3200nz
dell xps 1530 = $1900nz
they are pretty similar, mac has faster cpu, dell has more ram and hdd

The Dell at stock also has a lower monitor resolution. If you kick them both up about as equal as they can get (2.4GHz processors, 14x9 res screens, Vista Ultimate, 4GB RAM, 250GB hard drives) then the Dell is around $2330NZD, while the Macbook Pro is around $3650NZD. Certainly more expensive (and there are a few features still not exact), but not twice the price.
I wouldn't jump on people about this, but a lot of the same users that will nitpick about a graphic card price down to $10 for price-performance ratios will make blatant exaggerations when the word "Apple" is used in a thread. Yes, their high-end models can be rather pricey, especially once you start adding more Apple components. But they're nowhere near as bad as some users seem to make them out to be.

lol how would you even game when at best a standard mac has like a 2600 pro or less
This is always a stupid argument.
Mac fanboys will never back down, no matter how wrong they are they try to sound right.
And PC fanboys will never us another argument other then macs being overpriced.
While I do think Macs are overpriced... I also think EVERY prbuilt PC is overpriced too.
And once and for all...
Anything mac can do.. PC can do... THE SAME..
I love to make fun of Apple and their fanboys, but there is ignorance here by all the Apple haters. Apple is great because it's a closed environment, it has professional software that works and it wouldn't if it was in the Windows environment. Windows is many years of clutter on top of each other with uninspired software creators. Yes they are overpriced, but you're paying more for Mac OSX, the looks, the name. more than you are for the hardware. It's Linux with a standard. X360PS3AMD05
its UNIX not linux. Mac is the complete opposite of what linx, open source initiative, foss, ect... stand for

This pc is cheaper then macs cheapest imac, and its from best buy "rip off capitol of the world". BTW I know they use laptop parts, that is their major fault right there. If they are too lazy to come up with desktops then they shouldn't make them. My 2 cents. Also its just as easy to change ram in a pc as it is in a mac, you cant compare the mac pro its in a catagory of its own "Server" But if you built one of course it would be cheaper then that mac and most likely better.
