PC wont power up whatsoever

basically iv just moved home and i tried powering up my pc but it wont even power up. The plug socket and the electricity is working fine too. Also, the speakers and monitor know that they're connected to my pc so there must be some sort of power going through the sytem. I've also tried turning on the pc with both sticks of RAM in individually.

Specs:

intel 3570k

asrock extreme4 mobo

corsair 650w psu 80 plus bronze

2x 7200rpm hdd's

corsair force 3 240gb ssd

I doubt you have two bad sticks of RAM, although it could be possible. It sounds like either a dead power supply or motherboard. Although, I've never seen a Corsair PSU bite the dust. Have you tested the PSU with another computer?

Asrock is kind of a ghetto brand though. I'd say it's far more likely an Asrock mobo died than a Corsair PSU. Why didn't you go with a real brand like Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, or Intel? I always find it amusing when n00bs buy a bunch of high-end components, and then go with some dumpster brand motherboard.

Check all the cable connections and make sure everything is seated properly. If the system got bumped while in transit it could be a cable or a piece of hardware has been knocked loose, definately take out your graphics card and reseat it, you've already done the RAM.

Asrock has a range from low end to high end mobo... Just like another other mobo company.

unplug the power cable, hold power button for 10 seconds, plug back in, turn on. worth a shot...

Something like an Asus Sabertooth would be the equivalent of a Mercedes in the motherboard world. Asrock is the equivalent of a Hyundai or Kia. ECS is the equivalent of those Chinese cars that fold up like accordions after a 15mph impact.

I haven't heard of anyone still buying Plasma TVs in recent years as anything other than a budget alternative to LCDs. And yes, the OCZ SSDs have horribly flaky firmware. Just because you lucked out and got one that works doesn't mean they all do.

Nope, took out the psu and the mobo and sat them on my desk and it's still not starting up or showing any form of life. I also tried another psu on it, no luck. Do you have to RMA Asrock mobo's through Asrock or the place of purchase?

You'll notice from my sig that I have an Asrock Z77 mobo in this rig and I built my first PC in 1990, before starting my software engineering degree. I very much choose hardware based on my experiences with the various manufacturers and my favorites are Asus and Corsair but I balance everything with cost. On another note I find it highly unlikely that Asus would risk their reputation by associating themselves with a crap brand and they do after all own Asrock.

Perhaps you've had a bad experience with them but don't think that everyone has. I've found them to be reliable and affordable, which is the perfect mix. Sure it ain't an Asus P8Z77 Premium with Thunderbolt but it also didn't cost £350. On top of that I think you'll struggle to find a bad review of their motherboards, I certainly haven't found any and I always check multiple reviews of all hardware components (especially if newly released or I haven't used them before) being used before building a system either for myself or someone else.

Check with you're retailer first, they may want you to send it to them or they may even be able to sort the problem out, depends on the retailer though. I do have a horrible feeling that we're missing somthing simple!

the power button could be broken?

I've seen some cases that short and aren't able to power the unit (by just pressing the button) up due to a short in the cable (the cable from the case to the mobo).

Right, well, they tested it and nothing's wrong, so I took it home and everything's working fine. Well that was weird haha. Thank you for the tips anyway guys, greatly appreciated :)
