Am I the only one who finds it unbelievable? A simple search of "cod4 aimbot" or "BF2 hacks", and even "*game* torrent" will get you 1000+ results!

So my question is... Why the HELL are these sites/programs not being banned? I understand that in games it's pretty easy to tell if someone is hacking, but this is still a problem for piracy!! Don't we have webmasters or something that are like the cops of the internet? Maybe every OS sold should come with code that doesn't let you load up a page/doesn't let a program run?

This is really getting to be a big problem, as Crysis shows. ONE VERSION of a torrent has been downloaded 100 000+ times. That's over $50 000 000 worth of sales being flushed down the P2P network. So come on, men!

Most of those sites are overseas where the laws protects pirates so there is nothing that can be done. Torrent sites are making big money. They get more hits than Gamespot get in a month.

Some went offline and some no longer allow Americans to access the site but it will be impossible to get rid of them.

Very, very few of those people would have actually bough the game if the torrent wasn't available. They just wouldn't have played Crysis.

That's not to say a large portion of those 100,000 would have bought it if the torrent didn't exist. It's there, why not.

also it would be all alot easier for you to swallow if you wouldnt think of the internet as a big chat room where any website can be banned with a press of a button. How would a reasonable thinking person believe its possible to patrol and regulate all the content that goes on over at this internet. And if these heavy restrictions were placed they would be just as quickly bypassed.

If those sites were located in the USA they would have been shut down easily. Those websites are making a ton of money on ads.

Well wouldn't the people who are doing the piracy and the hacks make More websites if the other ones get banned??? I must say its really UNCOOL i hate when ppl hack games and stuff. It takes the fun out of it. Im just know... almost every game has somekind of hacking invovled in it. (meaning players hacking, not servers hacking ppls computer, etc) My dad once played Age Of Empires online and he got hacked and it broke our computer :( well yea that was a few years back and me and my bro have to be careful of the games we play now online. I wish there was no piracy or hacking at all... it ruins the fun!

Thats wtf demos are for. They provide enough gameplay to know what the game is like. Thats just an excuse for people who actually use torrents. What about all those games that focus on single player. People can just download it and play it. There are no real methods like the ones Multiplayer use to prevent it.

Yea.... Your right why are you going to these sites? - Reminds me of a Movie comercial thingy.... it goes

"you wouldn't steel a tv, YOu wouldn't steel a car.... dvd.... but you would download a movie. That is steeling. Piracy is steeling"

Well it goes something like that.

Why are these sites not getting banned?

It's simple, they are (the sites) hosted off-shore (Not in countries where it's illegal).

Also just a note - you are all pirates, just admit it. You have all download at least 1 song off limewire/frostwire, pirates ;)

Ya get over it, thats a nice attitude. Keep doing that and soon everyone is going to be using torrents. I wouldn't be surprised if this stuff has infected the console industry in a year or so. Somebody has just gotta get someway to take down these sites. I don't know how the hell they could get away with it. Ya they may just be distributing it but they are pretty much the entire problem. If nobody can distribute this stuff then nobody will be able to get it, easy as that. Stupid laws

As i said - there is little you can do about it when the site(s) are hosted in another country where the law doesn't say anything about piracy.

Most sites, such as *******.*** are hosted in sweden. Where they arn't actualy hosting anything illegal.

Please explain to me how a torrent file with about 15kb of code is somehow copyrighted? It's not. That's the way torrents work.

Torrents are sorta like a key, it's a key to the download off somebody else. Sure by giving the key away you are helping piracy but you're not actualy breaking the copyright laws.

Yea, and you don't even have to leave your chair.

If I could make a duplicate of someone's Porsche appear outside of my house with the click of a button, I know I would in a heartbeat.

I'm sure many people would stop pirating games if the publishers removed the copy protection. It may sound counter-intuitive, but many people pirate games because the retail copies can't be played on their terms. It's the same thing with music piracy.

I'm sorry but that's bs. Music piracy's DRM is no comparison to PC Game Copy Protection.

Really? I can hardly find a no CD crack that isn't full of adware and crap like that, I can't imagine how much corrupted files are in a game. Although I heard "Torrent" was known for safety.

I've never pirated a game, but, I'm gonna confess, I tried to pirate the horse armor mod that Bethesda made for oblivion, it was like 2 dollars...for a mod! C'mon, that's ridiculous. So I tried to find a clean version and well, I right clicked the folder, let McAfee do it's thing, and to no surprise, it was a horrible little virus and adware filled file. I stay away from piracy, I don't trust it. >_>

Actually, a lot of infected files are reported by users and then quickly deleted by site moderators. Not too say that you won't catch something if you're not careful, because you will.

I'll say this much: there are files about 500mb in size that didn't have a single virus in them.

that's why all games should move to steam. i'd have bought crysis already had it been available on steam, despite my pc not handling it all that well. as it is, i'm playing the waiting game. yeah, but piracy sucks big time and all involved should be whipped or something.

Very, very few of those people would have actually bough the game if the torrent wasn't available. They just wouldn't have played Crysis.

Thats wtf demos are for. They provide enough gameplay to know what the game is like. Thats just an excuse for people who actually use torrents. What about all those games that focus on single player. People can just download it and play it. There are no real methods like the ones Multiplayer use to prevent it.

geez i cant believe some of you couldnt understand this post. Simply, if the torrent wasnt available, the pirates just wouldnt play the game. They have no intention of buying it, but since there is a torrent, shoot whats the hurt in downloading for free

Exactly.

while this may be true for bad games for a good games like crysis I think many of the pirates would buy it if they were not able to pirate it.

[QUOTE="Tuzolord"]Well most of those Downloads are probably Viruses, Keyloggers etc :PElArab

You'd be surprised how little any of them are viruses.

macaffee is horrible. It finds viruses where there is none. Also, learn to search better. Little of them are viruses. I wont say anything else, because speakin about those things here is against the rules.
