I want to get the laptop with 16GB of RAM but its an extra $300AU to go from 8GB to 16GB I was wondering if anyone was aware of how many RAM slots the M17X R4 laptops had available and whether i could just buy 2x 4GB 1600Mhz RAM cards and put them in myself.

I just wanted to max out the laptops performance in any affordable way. I don't HAVE to have 16GB but if i can get that for an extra $60 or so i will.

Well you may as well go flush $60 down the toilet, because 16GB of RAM is going to give you absolutely no increase in performance.

Well if you must know, the M17x has four slots. Getting the laptop with 8GB would fill two of those. To fill the other two with an 8GB kit would cost ~$40USD.

Regardless of the price, it would be a pointless thing to do. Spend that $40 on a game or something.

16GB of RAM on a laptop is useless.... 8GB is more than enough.

8gb isn't quite that much. 12 is more prefferable imo

You'd be surprised by the alarming amount of tards that believe ram correlates to pure performance irl.

Yes big fat laptops does reel the big fishes. b*tches love ram and big numbers.

I still have my old Alienware lappy. It's going on 4 years now...heck maybe it's closer to 5. It still runs like a charm :) Granted the parts are getting a little venerable, but hey it's a lappy. Congrats on buy :D
