You need to respect the old adage of "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth."Damn I just realized this is a free to play game...lame. So basically the game is pay to win I'm guessing?

Yeah, the game ran like crap on my system as well even with a 7950. I couldn't fly anything or fight in any big battles without going into the 20's for FPS. I could lower the graphics settings but I shouldn't have to.[QUOTE="Toxic-Seahorse"]
[QUOTE="kraken2109"]
Can't believe how badly it runs :(
Unless they've improved performance since the beta where i was getting 30fps or less on medium.

Servers might just be overloaded? also, I dont know about AMD, but Nvidia released beta drivers for Planetside 2 today
you need the latest beta drivers for your GPU, I get over 100fps constantly
My Internet is crap  I hate living in the country.Planetside 2 is live.
Start downloading ASAP.

Game runs flawless on my rig maxed out. DevilMightCryNot much of a compliment to the optimization seeing as you've got top of the line stuff. :P The actual game seems to be running a bit better for me than the beta did.

The game runs much better than it did in the beta although it still has a long way to go, but it definitely looks a lot better now and high-end rigs can run it at max settings with reasonable framerates: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/560958683020616442/6241649757CD44D7FED589943817DC7FA8A165FF/http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/560958683020615158/3A745D51BEDCDAF4B9A876E061D0369B61D2F16E/ Haven't played the release version enough to say much but it does seem anti air is less OP than it was in the beta.
I'm enjoying the full version more than the beta thanks to the increased number of players, it took me about 5 hours in the beta to get to BR 5 and about 1 hour in the release version, simply because there is more action and I get more kills.
The game runs well but I have noticed some lag with players warping around, and also this bug which I experienced in the beta. It also doesn't feel very smooth even though I get good frame rates, the game just feels a bit twitchy. Hopefully this improves as time goes on.
What was the point of SOE pooling tons of resources into Planetside 2 if they're not going to make any money off it except some crappy market purchases? No wonder Sony's credit rating just got downgraded to junk status. KjranuI signed up for the $15 monthly because it was such a great product that I wanted to support it. Get my drift?

I bought Alpha squad and I am a monthly subscriber.
I think they'll make a lot of money on PS2. Sony may be going under though, but SoE won't be the cause.

They drastically lowered the amount of EXP it took to rank up. Before it would take like 2 billion to be level 100. That would take 96 years of making 8k exp a day.

ahhh that makes sene then.
Is it just me or did they make cert points take longer to get? It might just be it feels like it takes longer relative to the quick leveling but I swear it takes longer now.

do you have to download via steam?
Jebus213
Nope.
Steam just downloads you the launcher. You can get the launcher from their website.
The launcher is 7GB's? no, steam downloads the launcher and the game files. when you run the game from steam it just starts the launcher which checks for new patches.[QUOTE="Jebus213"][QUOTE="Wasdie"]The launcher is 7GB's? no, steam downloads the launcher and the game files. when you run the game from steam it just starts the launcher which checks for new patches. Right, so it downloads the entire game and not just launcher.Nope.

Best game I played since years.
Really i feel like that 13 year old kid again playing bf 1942.
Getting with the squad in a transporter for a planned co-platooned invasion, getting shot down, 6 of us still alive, in the middle of nowhere, we find a small outpost, we use guerilla tactics to attack and capture it, we are surrounded and we get a major counter attack, just before they sacked us, our platoon is dropping 30+ troops from the air.
F*ck you CoD and f*ck you Bf3
They really know how to get that brothers in arms vibe going!
They said it is 2000 people per cont and 6000 per server, I'm not seeing that, I'm seeing small boring fights, people are too spread out.
Don't start the game with a 360 controller plugged in, it makes it crash on startup!
Its not like that on the au server. Big intense battles ragingThey said it is 2000 people per cont and 6000 per server, I'm not seeing that, I'm seeing small boring fights, people are too spread out.

Those numbers are supported. This doesn't mean there will always be that many people on. Like Dark said, the battles on the Aussie server are pretty epic. They said it is 2000 people per cont and 6000 per server, I'm not seeing that, I'm seeing small boring fights, people are too spread out.

Loving the game so far... I keep becoming Squad Leader and it's nice to see people actually following order when issued. I wish we could give some orders to the markers.
Also for those who don't know, Q is used to spot (a la BF3) and if you hold it down on a player (in a vehicle or not) you can ask for a pick-up / ammo / heals and so on.
My only gripe with the game right now, is the bad performance I'm getting. On 2560x1440 it becomes unplayable and bumping the rez down to 1920x1080 i get around 30-40fps during large firefights... I think the best part about this game is when all 3 factions converge on 1 base and it becomes an all out war.

You'll often get battles of a few hundred vs. hundred. Any more than that becomes an unbearable spam.
You just have to learn where the fight is going to be. That's probably the hardest part of the entire game.
If you aren't finding big battles, try re-deploying on hot spots. I'm constantly finding myself in battles that are BF3 metro-esque, like 20 players and a sunderer hunkered down behind a pile of crates with enemies and friendlies running all over the place.
A lot of people don't know what they are doing, so I have a K/D of like 3.5 in the full version, it wasn't nearly that good in the beta. And thats mostly from playing heavy assault very aggresively. Who says its Pay 2 Win.

I loved Planetside but Planetside 2 just isn't fun, they've spread everyone out too much, the base designs are too open, the capture mechanics suck and you can only play during peak time because they went for the dumb server system again.

I was just in a 2 hour fight for a tech plant, the battle was massive. You must really not understand the new mechanics to not find a big fight.
They aren't going to implement 4 walls encasing a CoD style map where it's just a grind for 45 minutes like PS1 was. That was a huge issue that game had. Every base fight will be like Metro in BF3 if the bases would be like the old style.

exactly. Proof:
There were probably 500+ people fighting over this small area
How do you join a friend or a squad when they are playing?DevilMightCry
Hit the insert key, it makes you join a random squad.
:edit note: that's if you yourself want to join a squad
Had an awesome moment yesterday. Me and 2 guys from my class took a base in Red territory (we are blue), by ourselves. We were at the bottom left of Amerish deep in Red territory, the closest blue area was more than halfway up the map. I really should have taken a screenshot.EliteM0nk3yIf the closest NC area was more than halfway up the map, you are lying. You see, they implemented this system that stops people from 'back-capping'. You have to have one of your own coloured areas touching another area to capture it. Sorry buddy.
While in-game, hit Alt-F (not Alt-F4 :) ). This will not only show your fps but also if you are CPU or GPU bound. Most issues with this game are with the CPU; it takes a lot of process hundreds or thousands of players, bullets, etc. Can't believe how badly it runs :(

I'm really displeased with the performance of the game. I'm getting 30-40 fps in battles with a mildly OC'ed FX-8120 and a 7970. The devs have already mentioned that they're going to work on optimization, but doesn't an engine have to be built from the ground up to properly use multithreading? The game is leaning almost entirely on a single core, and I'd be very surprised if I got more CPU utilization from any "optimizations" they plan to make.
Does your GPU usage drop along with your FPS? But it only happens with this game.I'm really displeased with the performance of the game.
