I am currently posting this in a friends PC, wich I will be returning tomorrow... for times now I don't have a PC of my own... the thing is I have my hands full of work lately, and don't have time to build a PC on my own.

I tryed ordering a pre-built, but they are expensive and take up to a month to get built. The thing is, I'm going to need the PC for thursday... and I'm going away on business tomorrow to my country (Brazil) and will only return tuesday night. By that time I hope the PC I ordered by Newegg (I ordered separate parts, btw) will have arrived at my place... I won't have time to build it on wednesday and have to have it built and working Thursday (I have to get my e-mails servers back to work by then).

My question is: Can I take the PC parts (Every part, case, mobo, PSU...) to a eletronics store like Best Buy and Circuit City so they can assemble it to me? Do they do a nice job with cable management for better cooling and such? Is it quick enough to be built in a day?

Thank for everyone for any help, I'm really in a tight situation!

I imagine a PC vendor will only build a system for you if you buy it from them.

Honestly, if they do have those services, best buy/circuit city would charge an arm and a leg for that. They charge $45 for a graphics card installation...

Also they probably would get it back to you before you could do it yourself.

A small local PC shop would be your best bet. The kids at Best Buy and places are the same kids that work at Wal-mart and McDonald's I am sorry if I offended the single Best Buy employee that knows how to work on PC's. I have heard nothing but horror stories from Best Buy, now it could just be my local one, but I doubt it.

I wouldn't mind paying 3/400 dollars to get the PC running by Thursday, but some of you have mistrust about BB/CC employees, do you think they might damage my hardware? Oh, about that graphics card isntallation, does it have to be theirs?

1: Yes, the people at Geek Squad or Firedog will be able to take care of that for you. 2: No, their cabling jobs suck, unless you know one of the employees there already, and he hooks you up. 3: I'm not sure on that last part - you'd better ask them about that.

How come their cabling job sucks, they don't tie them up with zip straps?

None of the computers I've seen them build have had what even appeared to be an attempt at cable management, no. It's easy enough to do it yourself of course, but for what you pay, you'd think they could get something like that done.

I will be having a Lian-Li full tower case, do you think the lack of cable management will be a factor in the overall air circulation?

Shouldn't be a problem unless you're a stickler for temps or a serious overclocker.

I'm neither, so I just drop the parts in any BB/CC or does it have to be specific ones?

That Geek Squad and Firedog can be found at any Best Buy?

Geek Squad is for Best Buy, Firedog is for Circuit City. And as long as you have all the parts, they should be willing/able to assemble the computer for you.
