This shouldn't even be asked, Steam.

Same. I use both, but 95% of use is Steam. It is because Steam is basically its own platform with integrated friends list, auto updates, achievements, etc...

I forgot about the auto-updates. That's another thing I dislike about Steam. Some updates cause mods I'm using to cease working properly. If I want to update my game, I prefer to do it myself, not have it forced on me by Steam.
You can set it to not auto-update games.
That's the problem though. All the crap Steam does, it does by default so you have to go and tinker. And that doesn't do you much good if you buy a game a few months after release and Steam goes and automatically updates it to the latest patch before you can go and change the parameters.
Only Steam so far. D2D hasn't had anything that is cheap enough for me to warrant buying it. I don't trust them (IGN) as much as I do Valve. Valve did say that if they go under then they will release a patch to free all games from Steam DRM. Under the D2D Terms and Conditions they say they reserve the right to shut down D2D service and therefore your account and games in the process at whatever time they want with no consequences. Screw that.DasVolksSomebody needs to read the Steam ToS. Valve has the option of doing that, but you are not entitled to it. And it would be doubtful that they could do it for non-Valve games unless the developer agrees to it. I'd choose D2D over Steam any day. I do not like having to run a separate app at all the times to just play a game, so whenever possible, I'll use D2D/Impulse/Gamersgate. Plus with Valve removing legitimately bought games from people's accounts, I wouldn't trust them with a purchase over $10 anymore.

It's like choosing between a kick in the nuts or a kick in the face.RichardStallmanConsidering they are both great,I do not see how this is possible.

And before you start saying "well people shouldn't be buying Asian keys," I'm a guy who lives in Asia but is from the US. So if I buy a game here and then go back to the US, is Valve going to just disable my game? I prefer to take my business elsewhere. If Valve wants to punish sellers of these kinds of keys, I'm fine with that. But you don't punish the customer.

Yes, they are indeed kickass, especially with all of the extras they include with the downloads.[QUOTE="ic4ruz"]Are you serious? I've only ever seen one good deal there, and that was Condemned for $3.Why isn't gamersgate in the poll?
It's my favorite Digital distribution site.
If a site has good deal or a sale then i'm going there !
DasVolks
Ups, I meant that it doesn't matter if it's D2D, Steam, Gamersgate, Get Games..... If they have some sale or good deal than I will buy there.
Steam all the way. Because it's so much more than a digital distribution product.
First off, you can be online or offline. That means you can download any single player game and not have to load up Steam other than offline. Internet goes out, no problem load it up and it'll work. I've yet to have a problem with this.
Friends list is not just a social network thing like yahoo messenger or AIM. I can right click on my friends and invite them to my game, I can right click on my friend and join the server (s)he's playing on.
Personally I like to keep track of the time I play my games as well as all the achievements that Steam offers, many which are exclusive to Steam. If you don't like this, you can set your profile to private and none of that will be tracked, for you or others looking at your profile page. Not even Steam keeps track. Don't believe me then take a look at global achievements for certain games. Just starting the game is sometimes an achievement, some reasons for why that's not at 100% is cause people buy games and don't play them right away (must have been a sale they couldn't pass up) or they are private and therefore their achievements are counted in the global achievements.
Auto updates are the easy way to go, I can't complain at all about this. I heard some people complaining that mods don't work after an update. At this point you should just manually go to that specific game you are modding and tell it to not automatically update. It's a simple thing that can be turned off or on.
More and more games are coming to steam, old and new and the constant sales that come up are extremely tempting. Plus whoever doesn't like Steam must have missed their Christmas sale. Probably one of the best sales I've ever seen.
So yeah, my vote goes for Steam, the reason why PC Gaming is still alive today. D2D is good too, just not at the same level that Steam is. But remember Steam started off horribly, they had to work hard to get it to what it is now.
