I have a love/hate relationship with it
I personally prefer Impulse when I play games.
The thing I love about Steam is how many games and how many good deals there are.
I just hate how it works when I play a game. It annoys the hell out of me.
And then if I'm in an area where the wifi doesn't allow access to stuff like Steam,
I have to turn off my wifi just to play a game.
Impulse, from Stardock, is so much easier to use IMO.
Use both though.
I usually use it around 50 hrs a fortnight :D but not for a few days now since i got the new ofp
Barely chat with steam though, just play games.
Mainly all the HL games (got the orange box, and the hl1 anthology), CS, tf2, and a few mods
For us Australians we can usually buy 2 new release games on steam for the price of 1 retail copy and often they're out on Steam first so it's win win. Plus with our dollar now climbing against the USD games are just getting cheaper and cheaper.
I also love Steam because it keeps track off all my games, updates them, don't need cds or cd keys, friends on steam chat, internet browser/chat while in game. Plus programs like Steam and its competitors are giving the PC a fighting chance against the pirate cancer as well as giving Indie developers a real chance to make some head way into the industry which is giving the PC some momentum again.
I have Steam and it's not bad but I also use Xfire more Steam - open every now and then Xfire - almost the whole time
I totally agree with you!I have a love/hate relationship with it

It always starts up, gives you the daily news update before you play your game, has to connect if you have a wifi connection etc..
It just becomes a pain. If I can get the same game off Impulse for the same price, I'll get it off Impulse without thinking. Impulse is
so much easier to use and playing a game from Impulse is a far smoother experience
Yes, every day. I find myself buying something from the store every few weeks these days, and most of my games are on Steam so chances are I'm going to play at least one of them every day.
I don't really use it for chatting that often though, or for the community.
Only for Valve games (HL2, Left 4 Dead). I don't play them often, so I don't use it often.
Looking at my Steam profile, it says that I was last online 37 days ago. That was when I beat FEAR 2 (which sucked btw). The only time before that I can remember was when I played Left 4 Dead a lot.
I only use Steam to play Valve games, and for some indie games when they have good deals. Like $4.99 for Braid.
