finally someone that agrees with me. it's not a bad game, but the hype factor was over the roof. i'd honestly say that i had a better time playing Halo 3 later that year, or at the very least regretted buying Bioshock more than how I regretted buying Halo, and that's saying a lot.
The most damaging thing to Bioshock is the fact that System shock came out in 99...
A better allaround game, with the same mechanics (altho they were alot deeper) the same way of progressing the story, and alot more interresting nps/enemies.
Apart from that, there are just games that appeal to me more, and that are more pilished/thought through.
It is a good game, but one of the best? not even by a long shot.

i'm somewhat joking. it's one of the most overrated games of 2007 IMO, but it's not bad. i seem to run into more Bioshock love than hate and I don't roam the boards as often as I used to, so i may have missed something.
The most fun I had with the game was the Uninstall Feature that came with the game It was the second worst game that came out that year, of games I tried (and I have played a lot of computer games that came out that year). The game had pretty much everything that I don't like in FPS games
No. If it had come a few years earlier, it would have felt like something special. But as it was, the gameplay was nothing remarkable, no matter how pretty it looked.
Nah, I didn't like Bioshock, felt like it was too hard too get into after 5 hours of playing it. One of the best video games ever made for me are: Super Paper Mario, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime3: Corruption and Super Mario Galaxy.

i wouldnt call it mediocre, the graphics in that game are art... its dumbded down for x360 newbie players and the story is a bad copy from ss2 In any case: "is bioshock one of the best games ever made?" No i played ss2 and it was so superior and better that you cant possibly begin to imagine if you think bioshock was that amazing Timberwolf5578. also deus ex, halif life fallout games oblivion and cod games are far better than bioshock, i found it borrring....but in any case there are more borrrring and "empty" games out there.... ohh and simplified as hell...even the level design is so damn simple.....yes i am talking about mass effect.
now, it is far from a bad game. But its also far from a great game, even a good game.
Bioshock, when all the hype is factored into it, is one of the most "meh" games I have ever played, and there are countless games better and more enjoyable than it that deserve the praise it got.
There is NO such thing as "the best game ever made". I suppose you could argue that Pong is the "best game ever made" because, without it, we'd have nothing. However, no current gen/next gen/legacy games are the best ever made. A title like that just does not exist, nor will one ever exist.

Very underwhelming for me. Started badly fighting the online authentication servers to even get the damn thing to install, and after all the fuss I just didn't really get into it. Played through a few of the regions, but just got bored with it and moved onto something else.
