POLL: What antivirus Program Do you use?

Hi everyone I was kind of curious to see what antivirus programs people are using and why they use that particular program. I personally use avast atm on my computer because it's very efficient at detecting infections and it has a handful of useful security shields as well. :)

I use kaspersky 2011, I use it because its stopped all the virus infections, its cheap, the UI is great and the tools are easy to use.

I remember a case, though i cant find it now, where it did manage to find a false positive...kind of. A developer created a script designed to navigate through their network to create a folder structure on each PC. The script replicates itself to hit as many computers on their network as fast as possible so that each PC will have these files and folders when he runs the script.

This is, technically, a virus (self replicating and modifies data). MSE was the only antivirus that picked it up.

Agreed, create a need to have such a product, I would say no corporation is above this. I mean its already been proven in many cases, like say National Defense for the United States.

MSE is what I've been using for the past year. Before, I used Avira, but I'm liking this better. Microsoft product or not, it scans well, detects well, and is sufficient for my needs as far as internet security goes.

I had Norton on my last computer, and my experiences have been SO MUCH better than the computer before that.

Symantec was like a virus of it's own when I tried getting rid of it. now I have a change of heart, especially after Kaspersky went **** on me suddenly:P

my new MOBO came with a free 3 months trial for Norton, so after that I'll probably use MSE (I've heard a lot of good things about it)

otherwise maybe Avast.

Bitdefender. It works pretty well (There was a period when it was a bit rocky, but then it picked up) and I can't really argue with it...although as a firefox/noscript/adblock user I'm pretty secure at the best of times.

I had Norton for a while. Hateful program. Went wrong...uninstall failed, left with its hooks in my system requiring a restore. Never again.

I agree with Lach0121, NOD32 is the best. 8)

i was using avast pro until i got my new computer which came with 15 month McAfee subscription, i was going to remove it straight away and put Avast back on, but i have to say so far it does a great job for me, low on resources and works well in the background, all and all im very happy...

I use Avira AntiVir + Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Both free, both perfect.Crimsader

None. Well not completely true, I have clam-av installed on my network bridge... though it's very basic.

Kaspersky. It's my favorite and has kept me safe so far. This reminded me. My subscription expires in 3 days :(

Computer is nearly 3 years old, been using MSE since they redid it and have had no issues at all.

Avira free Antivirus - Works great, light on resources, catches all kinds of viruses (I can count 6 in the quarantine), and the best part, it'e completely free.

I use Kaspersky.

I tried Security Essentials, but it really screwed around with my system. Kept freezing for minutes at a time. No idea why, but it stopped as soon as I uninstalled it.

Eset smart security on all three of my desktop and one laptop

Went from using AVG to Avast, and have finally settled on MSE. From the reports I've seen, it's one of the best free av's out there.

edit: here we go -http://www.av-comparatives.org/under the aug 2010 on-demand comparative. man, looks like avira got even better..

McAfee. I got tired of updating several different programs and running them individually. So I got McAfee Total or Internet Security, what ever it's called. Other than a couple of false positives over the past couple of years I don't even notice it.

not AVG anyway its driving me crazy :?

Avast free edition, using it for almost 6 years in conjunction with comodo firewall, not one virus or malware issue. It also is one of the best at virus signature updates :) No need to pay for security software unless your some paranoid guy lol
