Obviously someone is too used to only RPG hybrids.... and if anything, Fallout 3 was not better than KOTOR. I spent 24 hours of gameplay on KOTOR with the small bit of time i had it. I Own Fallout 3 and only touched it 4 times exactly. Its just bland, boring, and an Art Style that games like Crayon Physics Deluxe can even beat. Sorry, my cup of tea says this. Now please, go failtroll somewhere else.

Honestly, KotOR is more of an X-Box game. It can be argued that X-Box has best version of game not including mods.Still, the pick is supposed to be from those I listed. Surely you have a fav among them.AFBrat77

The result (Dragon Age winning) is showing just one thing: newbies detected. I seriously doubt it would get one vote if everybody had also played, from this list, Baldur's Gate 2. And you can infer from my sig that I do like Dragon Age a lot.Lithos_

Be glad there are newbies to Pure RPGs, and if I were to generalize, Newbies to PC Gaming. If we had no newbies, PC gaming and Rpgs could crash and come up dead.

My selection on this has got to be Dragon Age, mostly just because i like the Personality of Allister and Morrigan. and since everyone seems to be listing hybrids, I also Enjoyed Mass Effect.

I have to agree. I haven't played a whole lot of Badlur's Gate 2, but I can say that I enjoy Dragon Age: Origins more, and I'm not even playing the PC version. I like the game's personality and world much more than that of Baldur's Gate 2.

I don't see the irony. I'm a BIG Fallout fan and I certainly don't consider FO3 part of the canon. As and old Fallout fan I found FO3 juvenile and insulting. Then again, I haven't played a game by Bethesda that I've actually liked. Each game seems to get dumber and dumber (oops, I mean more stream-lined) I wouldn't even call their games RPGs to be honest. They're more like action-adventure games with some very mediocre RPG elements tacked on. Don't even get me started on the writing...

Fallout 3 isn't a pure RPG. It's a FPS with RPG elements, a hybrid genre game. You should had mentioned "Arcanum of Steamworks and Magik Oscura" and "The Witcher".RyuRanVII

ehh, I'd say it's an rpg with fps elements, borderlands is a fps with rpg elements.

My vote goes to Morrowind, I love that game.

The Witcher and Vampire would have fought for that spot....had i put Witcher in, Vampire fans would've been upset. You can't win here with 5 choices, but i'm used to that with the polls I've made.

I wanted to keep 2 spots for Bioware games, 2 for Bethesda, so only chance was 5th spot.

Well, I wanted 2 Bethesda games, so basically that spot was gonna be either Fallout 3 or Oblivion. I think Oblivion is more of an RPG, fair enough, but I felt Fallout 3 was the better game. Perhaps I could have put Oblivion, but like I've said before, backlash for Fallout 3 would be forthcoming.

The Witcher was only going to make the list as a result of competition with Vampire, and its highly debatable whether it deserves that spot over Vampire.

Vampire :The masquerade Bloodlines for me. Deus ex is my favourite game,and I found in Vampire some similarities in gameplay that made me love it as well. As for the others,I only dislike Fallout 3.BG2 and DA are great games. Still,you probably should have listed Planescape torment,probably the RPG that has more "role play" of them all.Arach666

I simply didn't want people complaining as to why games like Diablo 2 and Deus Ex aren't on the list....

Once again, here's the rough draft for how I arrived at the 5 choices:

• The 2 best games developed by Bioware in the 00's (they are unarguably BG2 and DA:O)
• The 2 best RPG's by Bethesda in the 00's (ok, you could debate Oblivion over Fallout 3, but I went for personal pick Fallout 3, Morrowind belongs on list, and my Bethesda poll bears that out as I thought it would)
• 1 RPG independent of both Bioware and Bethesda (I picked Bloodlines, heh, sue me then, but it looks to me to be holding its own in this Poll)

Thats it in a nutshell, I can't emphasize enough how just one more choice for the Poll would be so much better, but alas only 5 spots people.

Really, there should not be a debate if some of you guys just read the title of thread!

I don't get how bloodlines is on that list over KotoR or NWN, or how it's getting votes... but anyways I went with Dragon Age, judging by today's standards. BG2 back in its day was bigger than DA:O is today, though.F1_2004

Still, I felt the single-player for original NWN was poor, though expansions brought it up somewhat.

Neither does mass effect fit because its a consolish game, oh wait so does fallout 3!! Oh wait mass effect does fit because it has dialogue choices and fallout 3 does not because it does not have much choices, but morrowind does not have dialogue choices either!!! As for witcher it does not have much of exploring or making choices neither developing a character, at the end its a bit of everything!! So bioware rpg definition=/=bethesda rpg definition, one is about dialogue choices and role playing and the other is about huge worldmaps and exploration. Now which "pure" rpgs should be in the list?
