Valve? Are you kidding? All they've made is HL1/2 and a bunch of glorified mods of these two games.F1_2004

Those "glorified mods" put most "real" games to shame.

I voted Valve because they care about their players in a big way. For example Gabe was recently holding a seminar with deaf people to see how he could help their gaming experience. Sure it's probably a PR stunt but it at least shows that they are thinking about the people who play their games.

That being said it's really hard to choose Valve over Bioware or Blizzard. All these developers are doing great things for PC gaming.

When it comes to which game gets good graphics (not the best), nicely optimized, great balance, good support, and overall good community, I'd give it to Blizzard. They tend to makes games that can keep you entertained for a long time. Games like WoW(I dont play it), Diablo 2, StarCraft, and WarCraft. Basically, all their games. Although, they like to take the precious time to create their game and to continue to charge you.

When it comes to how many games a company makes and how fast they make it, then EA takes it. They also take the I ripped you off by making you buy a game for 50$ that will only keep you entertained for about a month.

Bioware is 39081274 miles in front of the other two. I mean come on.
KoToR, Mass effect, Jade empire, Baldurs gate, NWN and soon Dragon Age: origins.

Are you talking about the grindfest of WoW? Which is nowhere near any on Biowares RPGs?
WoW is more a social community with leveling abillity than an RPG.

And Diablo 1&2 are not RPG's they're hack & slash games.

What do valve have.
Half life, play through once and then never again. No replay value at all.
Counter strike... need i say more?
Left 4 dead. It's a very fun game, but you can't play for many hours at a time. Since you get bored to death after a while.
Team fortress... How on earth did this even get made? It's just awefull

Let's see blizzard.
Warcraft series. Very good RTS. Warcraft 3 probably one of the better RTS ever made.
World of warcraft. Addictive but yet extremely overrated MMORPG. Which survives on two things. The social community. And it being very easy to play. So easy that all the servers are flooded with 12-15 year olds destroying the same social community holding the game together.
Diablo 1&2. Also very good games. Hack & slash with loads of replay value. And more or less responsible for starting the MMORPG-scene.

Out of these two. Blizzards is miles ahead of valve without a doubt.
But personally since i like deeper games. With actual storytelling. I have to go with Bioware.
They're the only one of the three with a game in my top 5 favourite games.

i seriously doubt that

I'm a HUGE Blizzard fan and I'll admit that Bioware is the reigning champ of RPGs. Overall for me it is Blizzard, they make games of the utmost quality and they don't disappoint, every single one of their games released on the PC is of AAA quality (GS for some reason couldn't quite get into Diablo 2....) Bioware and Valve to me are a close 2nd and 3rd, but Blizzard made me a PC gamer.

I've spend more time playing Blizzard games than any other developer in my life.

Between Warcraft 1-3, WoW, Diablos 1&2 and Starcraft have been fully entertained by their products for... thousands of hours.

Valve (who has also made some of my favorite games) has probably only supplied 1/50th the amount of entertainment hours.

For an entertainment company to keep me entertained for that long, and keep coming back for more,i have no choice but to give them the number one spot.

Blizzard by a nose. All of their franchises are well-known to pretty much any gamer even years after their release. Valve's a close second with Half Life and it's million awesome mods. Bioware needs to get over their obsession with character archetypes (grizzled mercenary gets old), make a moral choice system that matters, and make Mass Effect borrow less from KotOR and Star Wars in general before they're back in the running.

None of the above. Westwood was the best. Origin comes to mind. If I had to pick, it would be Blizzard. Valve only has Half-Life and offshoots (which are great, don't get me wrong) and BioWare just pumps out RPGs year after year with the same formulaic gameplay. Great, definitely! But not very diverse. Westwood at least tried virtually every genre: RTS, RPG (Nox, Lands of Lore), MMO (Earth and Beyond), FPS (Renegade)

Baldur's Gate 2 and Neverwinter Nights say Bioware.
Blizzard was my fav back in the days of Diablo 1,2 and Warcraft 1,2 and Starcraft. They ruined Warcraft with 3 and WoW though and I couldn't care less about SC2.
Valve is cool, but not the coolest.

I probably put 200+ hours into L4D. Versus mode as way too much fun. The game had enough content.

Nope. After that people would use this thread as "proof" the other devs suck and it would really turn into a mess.

Not that it's entirely untrue, but I'd hate to see either Valve or Blizzard get bashed for such childish reason.

Bioware, lol  .

In terms of "what have you done for me lately" I'd say Valve...but that will probably change in the next year or so.

Present time, I would say Valve, followed by Blizzard. Up until recently, I wouldin't of put Bioware in this catagory, but since they have Dragon Age and The Old Republic on the horizon they may get there.

How do you play L4D for 200+ hours and not get bored. After 10 hours everything is the same.

Personally i can play top 2-3 rounds before i fall asleep of boredom. It's all just been there done that.
There should have been at least 10 campaigns on release. But now it's just same thing over and over again with just the 4 campaigns.

The maps are that different from time to time. Only thing different is that the zombies spawn on different places. But most of the rounds are very similar.

And i'm not surprised that blizzard and valve are leading, since they focus on mainstream easy fun, where there is really not much thinking involved.
That's what the mainstream likes.

But there's a lot of companies missing. THQ, Lionhead Studios, Paradox i.e.

And Diablo 1&2 are not RPG's they're hack & slash games.

World of Warcraft is an MMORPG and totally different from and incomparable to Bioware's RPGs. The Diablo games are RPGs and hack and slash games. Have you even played them? They're obviously RPGs and are cla$$ified and referred to as such by everyone. And they are better RPGs than anything Bioware has ever made. I'll retract the "ever will" bit and say "probably ever will" instead.

Bioware's RPGs have none of the things I want from an RPG except for a passable story. They don't have passable voice acting, environments, itemization, combat, characters (story wise, in terms of the writing), character development (skills, stats and so on), controls, immersion, believability or polish. I will never buy another Bioware product ever and I know I won't be missing out because their entire approach to video gaming is as far away from what I want as they could get.

Theres no competition....Valve. You can't beat tf2 l4d, counter strike and the hl2 series
