I've always had the desire to do this. Now, I haven't been looking at partsfor months now, but is there a new mobo thats small enough to fit inside it? Or possibly uising laptop parts to get it in?

Its possible, but it will take a LOT of modding and do it yourself work. There should be a motherboard small enought to fit, But then agian i dont even think a Micro ATX mobo will fit in the PS2. Also, you are going to need a godly cooling solution(maybe water cooling) But keep in mind you will have to do a LOT of work to get everything seated and working properly.

Laptop parts aren't a good idea.

Guy above is right, MICRO ATX, everything will be very close together, which is fine if you have water cooling, the PSU may pose a problem, in size.

What PS2? the old ones or the new ones? Either way you will probably need to use laptop parts to get it done. Now for taking a PS2 or PS3 out and hooking them into a PC chassis, then thats doable. Infact LianLi has a Xbox 360 computer chassis.

Ya, if you have the new PS2(slimline) then you will get absolutly NOTHING to fit.

I've never really thought about that, how the heck do they fit a gpu/cpu in that with sufficient cooling xD

TC unless you've got a lot of spare time, a lot of patience and experience in modding cases and such I doubt you'll get anywhere with this 'project'.

it's possible, but it will take some work, and I mean actual work, with soldering and probably disassembling/reassembling pieces yourself, and careful use of a soldering gun especially if you want to repurpose the PS2's controller and memory card ports so that you can use them somehow. You will invariably need to forget about anything using ATX and start thinking of mini-ITX, like those VIA-based ITX boards/systems. You can maybe try to get away with either finding a way to reuse the PS2's DVD drive or sticking in a mobile DVD/BD drive in there (how about that? a ps2 that plays bluray! ), then try and re-use the hard drive bay if it's a fatty PS2. If you were talking the slim PStwo, you're SOL. ain't **** going to fit in there and work.

It's certainly possible. You'd have to aim for low-power parts - MiniITX, external power supply, etc. Mini-box.com is a good place to start, though you'll probably balk once you see how expensive a MiniITX mobo can cost :)

For inspiration, look at the Ultimate Case Mod list.

Thanks. This is what I was looking for. I know I read some where that some guy built a small computer into a bottle of vodka. And yes, I'm referring to the PS2 fat. This computer would mainly be used in the living room or just for show, Music, Pictures, E-mail, etc, etc. Thanks though.

PS2s processor produces the graphics too. So thats little heat. the GC and Xbox both had seperate GPUs.
