How to determine my power supply watt?

Processor : AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 5000+ Socket AM2
MotherBoard: Asus M2N-E-SLI, A,F GL, SATA, R, PCI-E, AM2
Ram : DDR2 KIT 2X1024MB/800MHz/PC-6400 Kingston KVR
Gfx Card : Sapphire Radeon HD2600XT 256M, PCI-E
Hdd : Seagate 250 GIG 7200 RPM 16 MB

I'm going to guess that something around 400W - 450W should fit your needs. But I'm not 100% on this.

Edit: This website will give you a ruff estimate on required wattage.

Nice tool. But im afraid my new PC will be underpowered !! Im getting next week a Q6600 + 8800GT + p5k-e + 2b ram. The guy who's building my PC told me a good quality powersupply @ 500w would be enough.

Should i order a more powerful Power supply ?

wait, in step 1, where i must select single socket / dual sockets / quad sockets,must i select quad socket for a core 2quad Q6600 ? I mean, Does a Q6600 = 4 cores or 4 physical CPU ?

yea i know, my knowledge in PCs is low. .. . . but thx for help

If, it's a good quality PSU it should be enough. If, you're going to add another video card down the road, you might want to get a 600. I would talk to the builder.

ty, so 4 cores and 4 physicals CPU mean the same thing ? i wasn't sure if a Q6600 was 1 physical CPU, hence selecting 1 socket, not 4.
