I want to replay Deus Ex real bad, so I installed it and the install went not responding right at the end of the process, all I could do was terminating it, but it seemed all files were in place. I tried and run the game and it said the cd is wrong, while it's not. Ok, I said 'scratched cd', I try to uninstall and it won't work, so I try reinstalling to another folder from another CD and same error: install not responding and fails cd check.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Don't let me down people :(

Delete all of Deus Ex's installed files, and delete its registry key folders (Go to Start, Run, type in "regedit" without the quotes, Hit Ctrl+F and type in Deus Ex, delete all of the game's related keys).

That should solve the uninstall problem, right? Right now I bypassed the step leading to the install error: by terminating two sub-processes that freeze the installer, then by installing the 1.112 patch the game will start, It'll reach the main menu but when trying to start playing it will give an error. *Sigh*, one of my favorite games of all time. Now I'll have to get the PS2 version :(

SOMEBODY HELP!!

Hey, I also just reinstalled the game to replay it and I ran into the same issue. The way I fixed it was to copy all the files from the CD onto my hard drive and then run the installer, it wouldn't install off of the CD for some reason. I couldn't uninstall the messed up install either so I just manually deleted its folder from my program files folder. after it installs you'll have to open up the Deus Ex.ini file in the deus ex folder and change the line marked CDPath to point to whatever drive your dvd drive is so that the CD check works.

Thanks man, I'll try that and let you know. By the way, I tried installing on another computer and no problems were encountered. Dangit, what's wrong with my PC? *bash* *bash*

It didn't work

I'm seriously considering a disc format (or purchasing the PS2 version of DX).

Hey, it worked! I defragged the hard drive, copied all files from the CD to a directory and ran Setup.exe in Win98 compatibility mode from there. The installer still got stuck, but by terminating the three unresponsive processes (System_decompress; Textures_decompress; Maps_decompress) as they appeared in this order, the installation completed and the game ran smooth as silk. I could even install the Hi-Res texture pack.

Thanks to everyone for your support. Highly appreciated.
