Guys, i have a problem.

When i run Doom 3 it gives me 640x480 resolution. When I change it to 1280x1024 resolution, it says Press Apply - I press Apply - it says The changes will take effect next time you run Doom 3.

Well, I restart the game and it is stll under 640x480 resolution! What the hell!

Can anybody help please?

  • Are you running the latest patch?
  • Have you uninstalled/reinstalled the game multiple times (it could be a registry problem)?

I am running 1.1 patch, and I installed the game only once - should I reinstall?

Is that the latest patch? Also I remember having this problem, none of my settings would stay. Res,AA,AF,Textures and so on. So I set them, hit apply, and restarted my PC. Cha Ching it worked. :P

but in the cfg file - there is no resolution command... like there are bunch of "seta_ ...." but there is no "seta_ res 640x480" or something like that

you gotta hit control + shift + ~ to open the console.

Or you can add the arguement "+set com_allowconsole 1" to the properties of the doom3 shortcut on your desktop so it looks like this...

             \Doom 3.exe(space)+set com_allowconsole 1

Open the cfg file and search for 640. It wont be 640x480. Each number is its own setting if I remember correctly. Also just for the hell of it make sure you have right access to that folder. Shouldnt really matter if you were able to install it on the same account you are using.

I found a method that also works for anyone who finds this thread. Simply set all your settings (Graphics and Resolution) that you want and then click on "Mods" and just load the Doom 3 default mod and it just reloads the game with the new resolution and graphics settings.
