Problem with Fallout 3

I installed Fallout 3 yesterday and everything was running fine. I got to the point where I got out of the vault. I saved my game, explored the world a little bit and then quit the game. I tried to load the save this morning but whenever I do, the game freezes on the loadscreen - usually when the timer is around 3/4s of the way round. The music continues to play but it's stuck on that loadscreen. I tried loading one of my earlier saves from when I was still in the vault and it was fine - it loaded. However, I played on from this save several times and each time I exit the vault it freezes on the loadscreen - forcing me crtl, alt+del out.

Any idea on what is wrong and suggestions on how I can fix it?

I know this is kind of obvious but... got the latest game update and Graphics card drivers installed?

Just to clarify, the problem seems to be loading the wasteland. Saves which begin inside buildings work fine. I just found an autosave from that first (and only) time I got out of the vault and explored the land and then walked into a shack. The save begins in the shack and loads with no problems. However, whenever I try to exit the shack the game freezes on the loadscreen.

Makes no sense.

Reinstall?

I just reinstalled it there and it loaded those saves outside of the vault. Hopefully it's working now. Thanks.
