Hey, guys.

I'm going to build my first PC soon and it's going to be well over a thousand bucks. I was wondering how can I protect it from being stolen or something. I'm going to be living in a hostel for the next six years (college? hell yeah!) and this thought has been haunting me for the past couple of weeks.

Is there some sort of a PCI card or something like that which acts as a GPS tracker? I would love such a device which I can track using my smartphone or a web browser.

Call me paranoid or whatever you want but I can't risk my first PC to be stolen by a dishonest roommate.

You install IP camera/s inside the room and your DVR / computer connected with UPS.

The tracker would have been cooler. I hope someone else could find me something of that sort.

What sort of "IP camera" do you suggest? Any specific one? And I don't think I'd want to buy a whole UPS system for this purpose.

You're going to be living in a Hostel for college? I've never heard of someone doing that in the US, so I'm going to make an assumption that you are in Europe?

Is there any kind of renters insurance equivalent for a Hostel? Might want to look into that, could be simpler.

IP camera is sort of web camera for security purposes, you connect it to the computer / DVR / web and can view and move it online with an app for your mobile

Got a friend of mine securing his house with few of these babies inside his house.
