Quads VS i7's

hey guys i just wanted to know from u guys how much performance increase does i7 give on agsnt say quads like 6600

i mean is it worth the extra Mobo,ram and of course i7?

also wat is the difference between i7 and quads?

do i7 have more cores than quads and is it worth upgrading to i7?

ok but do we actaully need 8 cores for gaming alone? i wont be doing anything except for gaming on my desktop so is I7 for me?paraskhos_basic

in no way is a q6600 slow for gaming. any game you wanna play that a dual core runs, the q6600 will run great. on top of that, the q6600 can easily overclock to 3ghz or higher. plus it has 4 cores and more and more games are taking advantage of multiple cores.

The q6600 at stock clock (2.4GHz) is slow for gaming, unless the game utlizes all 4 cores. So I would say no. But it's hard to say how demanding games will be 3-4 years down the road.TheDuffman26

Well tha tup toy ou if you buy core i7 in 2010 Q1 For Westmere / OR Sandybridge later int he year as possibility after That i think they will make a sandyBrdige upgraded ect.. Also What make a Difference of Core i7 to Q6600 is mostly if you own Lot of GPU power Example The Equivalent of 4870 1GB and more and Specially if it 4870x2 & 295GTX and so Even a more big difference if Quad Sli / Crossfire X

because it is able to Control the 4 Gpu solution better then Is Ancestor Specially in huge Gpu consummating game Far cry 2 / Crisis Warhead / GTA IV Anyway here an Example 295GTX + Core i7 920 at 3.6Ghz would perform as same as core i7 965 at 3.6Ghz Look more of the article if you'r interested

Actual games doesn't support Hyper Threading, so the i7 it's just a Quadcore for gaming, not an Octocore.
