Quake 4??

after just getting my new video card my computer runs great, and I've hadQUAKE 4 lying around for almost a month.

I wasent to scared of it but, beforeI install it, just asking is it like doom 3 in a way is it scary?

I have played alot of scary games in my time but there are some games I wont touch, quake 4 doesent look thaqt scary though I have seen some videos in wich it looks pretty freaky?

can anyone classify this and give a a reccomendation on if its scary :P

P.S: Im also asking this since my younger cousin wants to play it :S,btw he is 13 and Im 20

yea I downloaded the demo for quake wars yeatserday and thought if quake 4 is like this then it wouldent be scary at all. I played it for like 15minutes then got abit boarded.

and I dont mind as much the gore part im fine with gore really but bioshock was a game that did tip it a little to far.

I mite install the game in a minute

personally, i would not call doom 3 scary at all

but no, quake 4 does not try and capture the... uh... atmosphere of doom 3... the game is often dark, but a few weapons have mounted torches, and it's never really dark - it's more like quake 2 than doom 3

a suggestion, btw, try and play with the torch as little as possible - i found the atmospheric lighting so awesome that using the torch spoilt the experience a little

oh great thanks, but I just watched a video on youtube about the strongification, it allmost looks like there is no way im playing this game.

Im fine with gore but thats just wrong, I'll play quake wars but I mite just keep away from quake 4 :S

Its not scary like Doom 3. There are a few suprises but after a while you can basically anticipate them. I will say that the game is quite disgusting, which I personally like but if the idea of acid-rendered humans being fed to an obese mutant with hookhands that gets blown the f*** up by being overfed disgusts you, then you might be better off with something else :D

Its an awesome game, though, and definately worth playing.

awww man, the stroggification is the best part. Its actually one of my all-time favorite cinematic moments in gaming history.

I didnt mind the heart scrapping, the lazer scanning, the robotic suit implant, but cutting your legs off eww just got me feelin abit sick well no not sick but abit disturbed.

Actually Quake 4 has more blood and gore then Bioshock does so if you thought that Bioshock was taking far then...

lol yea freaked out is more like it, im still not sure on weather Im gonna like this game, mite grab the demo just to check it out.

ha... same here. That cinematic was great.

The game is startling, but not scary. However, I barely find games like silent hill or doom 3 scary anymore. im a bit desensitized. But, apparently everybody else feels its not scary either. Just play it and find out.
