quake 4 vs. doom3

a little question whats better quake 4 or doom3?

oh and whats your favourite FPS mine ,i think Half life 2 

doom 3 is a bad run n gun with a clever - but poorly implemented - horror mechanic, and while the visuals are amazing - even at the time the plastic effect of all the character models was annoying

quake 4 isn't much better - but i'd say it is better... the gunplay is a little more enjoyable and the visuals are much improved, the plasticy models are gone and the envrionmental lighting is simply stunning

neither game has a particularly intelligent, original, engaging or well told story - though i'd probably put doom 3 ahead just because i think demons are cooler than cyborgs 

I prefer Quake 4 over Doom3

Quake is just more playable and instantly accessable. As far as Action Fps goes. Doom3 is just a one play deal and quite slow moving.

Quake 4.

Better enemies, better weapons, better story, AI teammates (theyre even pretty interesting to talk to!), etc.

Thats not to say that Doom 3 is a bad game, its just Quake 4 offers more.

Doom 3 is better than Quake IV, for this motives:

Quake IV look like a mod of D3 with the same enemies of Quake II, the story is really simple(a alien invaders and you have to kill everybody), the game began well with a variables mission objetives, but next look ordinary, only shoot, shoot and shoot(now is too lineal, go to X point to Y point). some enemies look like a reedition of the monsters of D3, for example; Sarge in QIV is very similar to sarge in D3(same story, same battle).

In the case of Doom 3, the story is the same that every Doom games, but is more complex than QIV, the Mission objectives are variables and the ambient of the level is great(tentacles out of the walls), the game have much suspense and you dont have to shoot everytime(is like a FPS with mix of survival game).

Didnt play doom 3 to the end did you? Because there a rather good sci fi story to it all in doom3.

I liked Q4 better, but still enjoyed D3. You can't go wrong with both, as they are pretty cheap on the PC, and some places give you one free. Check out the link,  gogamer.com has been giving everyone a free copy of Q4 when you buy Stalker, now that's a deal if I've ever heard of one, all for 40 bucks total. You won't find a deal like that on any other system.

This discussion is really making me miss the old Quake days, 1 thru 3. I don't think I will ever enjoy a shooter as much as I did Quake Team Fortress back in the 90's. I feel like I'm trying to catch that butterfly, but it's impossible, granted I love all shooters, but I'm still waiting for the next big thing(I'm sure it's nostalgia kicking in, but I used to rock out with Offspring and Smashing Pumpkins in my cd drive while playing :) , not to mention it ran like a charm on my old 133mhz laptop)

On a side note, I felt like ID released D3 more as a tech demo to sell their engine, whereas Q4 was more of a title that they put alot more  work into.

Nothing wrong with playing either game today while rocking out to Offspring and SP. "I got no self esteem..."

Doom 3... Favorite FPS ---> Team Fortress 2

Doom 3 is better big time.

As a Quake fan Idisliked Quake 4 because it was nothing like Quake 1/2. Although it is a good game I just like my heart beating as I turn around with my flashlight to find an Imp beating the crap out of me.

Doom 3 was better to me.
