So, who has it? How do you like the game? How is the performance? What kind of resolution and settings are you playing at? What are your specs? What issues have you encountered?

I am hearing a lot of mixed things about this game. It would be nice to hear what others have to say. I am not sure if I want to buy it yet.

I would also like to know an opinion, a game from Remedy that gets 6/10 seems kind of odd.

At least the good thing about it is when you get an Xbox copy you also can play with the same code on PC, so I'll give them that as a positive thing.

@skipper847: yeah I saw it weighs in around 120+GB iirc, with the video/movie.

I'm on the fence; looks like a neat game, but the review was not too great, and the gimmick of multiple choices (which, from what I hear, isn't all its cracked up to be) coupled with a live-action movie is kind of lame.

Idunno...we shall see.

I am 60% installed main game on Xbox one and can play it. I just tried it and 720p looks crap. I will wait for free PC version so at least I can play it in 1080p. Playing with controller too is kind of hard when use to keyboard and mouse. Even in 3rd person.

Finished Act 1 on PC. I thought it was fun and the story is pretty compelling.

Graphics seem a bit low res playing at 1080p and the textures are blurry, but the game still looks fantastic. Facial animations and physics are top notch. My biggest gripe is the framerate drops. They're frequent and very distracting. I'm playing on a 970 with the settings turned down a bit, so it shouldn't be this bad.

I'm waiting until the issue is resolved before I continue with the game.

@skipper847: Just a heads up, it seems like they're using that same 720p reconstruction thing on the PC version as well. This isn't the best port...

Hmmm... I think I am going to hold off on this one at least until the Windows Store update that supports G-Sync. It has blurry graphics, mixed reviews, bad performance, and is expensive. This game is not worth $75 CAD + taxes.

The frame times are horrible on a 60hz monitor, gets better with 120/144 etc, this is mainly due to the double buffer vsync it uses.

The performance is not down right terrible but it isn't great either, I'm getting 40-60fps on OC'd 980ti on 1440p and the image quality honestly isn't much better than the xbox version, you get noticeable difference by using DSR to 4K, but I only managed to get 25-35fps by lowering some settings and even then it's very unresponsive and quite painful to play at.

The game obviously does use temporal reconstruction so playing on 1080p means you are not getting much better than 720p quality.

970 gets decent(40-60) frames on 1080p but it really doesnt look all that great.

So to those with 60hz monitors I'd recommend you to wait and see if they fix these issues, heck even with with higher hz monitors its not great.

It's a shame the PC version is what it is in it's current state as I really do like the game

Short story wait for patches and / or new drivers - in terms of performances.

On the bad side of the game - the game is short - about 7-8 hours long and half of it are in game cutscenes and real life videos - so yeah - Max Payne 3 anyone?

On the real bright side the storyline is excellent so I heard - so in my verdict even though I didn't play the actual game I don't think it's worth 60$ but a 30$ indeed.

Also don't forget there's no multiplayer - compared to Max Payne 3 if I'd say.

@howmakewood: I am hoping future G-Sync support will fix the frame times and buffering issue. Still, I don't like it when my games dip below 60fps. I like to have 60fps and above.

Me neither and if it does drop a bit it wouldnt be that bad with gsync, forced vsync is just unacceptable even more so when they implement it with this double buffer crap, not only does it cause stutter but there's always input lag included as well

PC Gamer posted up their review. It scored a 70.

Performance Review by OC3D:

Apparently this game is CPU-bound and poorly optimized for modern CPUs. Seriously, WTF is Microsoft doing? DX12 is supposed to be all about improving CPU performance and these games they are releasing are so poorly optimized. Disgraceful.

Yep, it's like that.

From the review:

"Quantum Break is a story-heavy action game by Max Payne creator Remedy. As well as a ten-hour campaign featuring the kind of cinematic combat the Finnish studio is known for, there’s a live-action TV show that runs alongside it. Episodes play between acts, and the scenes change—sometimes dramatically, sometimes subtly—according to decisions you make and things you interact with."

I love this idea.

Yeah and being in Australia myself, thought that it will never air here, lol.

The cool thing is how the show changes depending on what you choose in the game (they filmed various versions of each game).

This REALLY makes me interested. Does anyone know if you need a Microsoft Account on Windows to buy from the Store or can just log in the store by itself and keep using a local account on Win10?

I know that. I'm just asking if you need to convert your LOCAL WINDOWS ACCOUNT to a Microsoft Account to be able to purchase from the store? Or you can just log into the store by itself.

Hehe, somebody is in the joking mood. MS really needs to step it up. They are off to a poor start with this new Win 10 UWP initiative.

It's pretty much obvious at this point that DX12 is less about improving performance all-around and more about Microsoft's partnership with AMD, considering that DX12 was heavily made with Xbox in mind and we all know what the Xbox uses AMD. In their eyes, if AMD performance went up (even if NVIDIA's goes down) - Microsoft hit their DX12 optimization goals.

It seems that the game misses a comma on its name: "Quantom, Break"

Even AMD's FuryX has issues with Ultra and Max settings in only 1080p!!! From OC3D.NET:

It might be running out of VRAM since it has only 4GB, but this should mean that the game might require more than 4GB for 1080p!!! So all cards apart from R9 390(X) and GTX980Ti have problems maxing the game even in 1080p.

@howmakewood: In 1440p the things are even worse.

Last playable settings for FuryX is medium...

Ultra settings go to 20FPS min and 12FPS in Max settings. :S

ps: Judging by the problem with 4GB GPUs and lower, it isn't surprising that an 8GB R9 390 performed better than a 4GB GTX970.

@howmakewood: Yeap, I saw it.

Your 980ti lightning should perform around 20% more performance than normal 980ti, without even o/c...

I guess you can play the game in Max settings 1440p, with around 45FPS and Gsync, or 60FPS with Ultra settings...

gsync doesn't work sadly and while my gpu is faster than stock ones my cpu 2600k+2133ddr3 doesn't quite match oc'd skylake i7s coupled with ddr4

but yes I was getting 50-53 avg I'd say and frame times weren't as bad thanks to 144hz monitor, obviously still not as smooth as one would like but it was ok

The game obviously does use temporal reconstruction so playing on 1080p means you are not getting much better than 720p quality.

You ask me, that alone is a huge deal breaker. I select 1920x1080, the game had damn well better ACTUALLY run at 1920x1080. No enforced 'temporal reconstruction' crap.

No the frame time issues are less severe on higher HZ monitors so it's not "nothing", I can look up the benchmarks and I'll edit in a bit

It certainly has a part, I just think that once you start talking about frame times, most people's minds drift elsewhere.

That may be but in this case I used those to back up my claim that having higher than 60hz monitor in this particular game does in fact provide smoother experience, which @PredatorRules said to no a nonfactor

Congrats on nitpicking at BS. MS has never really created anything other than windows and office.

Point being. all the ":games" they have published as of late are dogshit on PC.
