I want to get a laptop I found one in my price range and it has a Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4 ghz. I wanted to know how this compared to my desktop PC It has a AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core +5200 2.61 ghz. Is the Intel chip slower than what I have or faster? I don't know much about hardware I have to admit so any help would be great. I am looking to play games like call of duty 4, the sims 3, and Diablo 3 on the laptop if i can. I'll put the specs for the two computers down and you can tell me if the laptop is better or not.

Desktop:

Windows XP Media

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core +5200 2.61 ghz

2 gig ram

Nvidia Geforce 7300 LE

Laptop:

Windows Vista

Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4 ghz

4 gig ram

Nvidia Geforce 8700M GT

Well first off laptops arent really made for gaming. Next all you need to do is upgrade that video in your desktop with the X2 5200. Just buy adding a $80-$130 video card you can play any game you want.

yeah I might do that, but I still have to get a laptop because of computer shareing issues and lack of space. Because I have to get one for school and whatnot i'd like to play a few games on it. The laptop i was looking at was a area-51 m15x by alienware, I just customized it some.

But I would say with your laptop with the 8700m would out do your desktop. But as I said earlier just buying a video card could make it into nice little gaming machine.

Never buy alienware you can buy a computer for half the cost and have the same performance.

lol yeah i know the lap top was like 2000 bucks. Are there any laptops out there that are ok for a little gameing that are cheaper? My wife is claiming the desktop for work and the sims 3. I needed a place to do my college work without fighting over the pc and I really have no room for another desk.
