Ok so I have seen this option on Crysis (after update) and Now AoC. I know what AA does but I dont recall seing a 8xQ or a 16xQ before, what does the Q stand for in regards to just a normal 8x or 16x?

8xQ is a true 8x MSAA mode. It stores 8 color/Z Samples in memory and provides 8x AA on stencil shadow edges and stores 8 samples with Transparency AA. I think the Q stands for quality.
If I remember correctly Q stands for supersampling, it renders the image to a higher quality and then resamples it for your resolution. It's better than standard 8x or 16x but the performance hit is also greater :(.(if you don't have 2x8800Ultra or 2x9800GTX or GX2 forget about AA in Crysis ;)).
The Q stands for Quincunx, which is named after the way that objects are analyzed in game on how to perform antialiasing. The supposed principle is that say.... 8xQ would mean that you'd get the effect of 8x AA, but by using an optimized, Quincunx method, the performance impact would be significantly reduced. This option only appears with NVIDIA geForce cards, where ATi does a more discreet (read: sneaky) form of AA optimization in their Catalyst A.I. component of their display device drivers.
