I havent gotten garrys mod yet, but I was wondering. if you put the work and the time into it, would you actually be able to create a game in it? Like an actual serious game using the source engines models and stuff that is (i believe thats what g mod gives you, models and stuff)

If you want to create maps, mods, or a new game you need to use Source SDK which is free with steam and is under the tools tab. G Mod just allows you to mess around with prefabs and models.

No, you couldn't really do it. You'd need to use the Source SDK for that kind of thing.

You can't make your own maps, or do animation (aside from fixed expressions), or program AI routines, or do scripted sequences... it's just what you'd expect from a physics sandbox.

Just to add onto this, you need to own a Valve Source game in order to use the SDK (e.g. Half-Life 2, Orange Box, L4D).

So g mod is pretty much just creating stuff and messing around in it?
