Nope it wont work. For starters most HD projektion TV's are totally out of date, most of them provide upscaled analouge signal to the lowest HD resolution (1024*720i/interlaced) rather than high quality resolution with twice the amount of pixels running in progressive (modern TV's). I cant see the reason toeven run HD material on such of an artifact. HD TV usally equal digital media in most part of the world, mpg4 is the container for this, im quite sure no old HD backprojektion TV support that. So it'll need a digital-box to output a analouge signal to the TV, one that support HDTV is not cheap, in this situation a *new TV would be better spent as it support this without the cash. Some countrys still havnt moved onto digital TV, if this apply to you i actually dont know a good awnser as it depends on what exsact model of a TV you have.

And how do you belive the CRT works like? ;) projektion? It's an electronmagnetic projektor, shooting at the screen of your TV.

As it's a analouge signal the imput amount of the pixels dont matter as much, the TV set uses a progressive scan of 480, so it's not actually even HD ready.

From the information i gather on the web it dont support 720P witch is what "HDready" usally mean.

To be honest i dont know from the little bare minimum info you choose to view what to recomend you, i'd say get a new TV that support the things you want to do already from the start.

Plasma has all the pros of a older TV sets while it has much richer colors and better picture with HD support. LCD's are fine, there even LED screens both LCD's and Plasmas are fine, theres a reason noone sells Tube TV's anymore. I don't think you'll regret the buy at all, even very expencive tube TV's are not playing in the same quality as cheap TFT's are today. The reason for keeping older CRT's is not because they offer better quality, it's because the cost of a new one to replace it. Just walk to a TV seller, look at the picture of the TV's, be careful to judge them direct, on cheaper models they usally set the picture dark and moody to get the more expencive ones look better with richer colors. Find one at a good price and mess with the settings and see if you can get the picture as you like it. The cost of a HD capable box to use with your non-HD/720/1080 capable TV isn't the best route to go, buy a new TV instead, i don't miss the CRT's one single bit.

CRT has much better blacks than even IPS panel LCD. There are other drawbacks of CRT tech but lets not say it doesnt have any advantages and that LCD is perfect because it definitely isnt. S-PVA panels have the best blacks in LCD's but their other short comings make them inferior to IPS for gaming.

I dont know about "TV's" but CRT monitors destroy TN-panel LCD monitors in picture quality if those are what you meant by "cheap TFT's"...

Yes, TV's and PC monitors isn't playing in the same class. The diffrence in components is gian't. I don't miss my Dell 21" Triniton monitor either, i only had mussle to toss it a meter. :P
