I've been thinking about getting this game for quite awhile now but I can't decide if I want it or not. Is it worth it?SexyPorkins
yah lotro is the second most popular mmorpg in the usa right now.
the graphics are nice to, some really nice looking landscapes and such.
its mainly pve tho, thats what turned me off about it, there is some monster play but when i was running around as a monster i couldnt find anyone to fight.
I've been wondering for some time too if I should get this one... Gave a shot to the trial, wasn't really impress. The bard class is so ridiculous you'll end up laughing.. kinda sad in fact...
I'd wait to see more of Age of Conan and Warhammer Online if I were you.. Those two should be interresting. Plus, LoTRO announced a retail expansion pack.. and by the sounds of it, there gonna be plenty more (doesn't seem like there's anything more than the Moria.. check a map of Middle-Earth.. there's still a lot of groud to cover before Mount Doom).
But if you haven't tried the free trial.. I'd start with that.. try out every class and try to find someone to show you around.. The community is pretty nice from what I saw.

Warhammer Online is pretty much strictly PVP, AOC I hear is interesting.
LOTRO is a great PVE game, pvp is lacking (immensly) and the game is beautiful. I'd get the trial.
The PvP is horrible in this game. If you like just plain PvE then get it.Apillow
yeah, i agree, monster play is such a great idea in theory and could be really fun, but its ruined by hunters and blackarrows and nobody ever gets into a good fight...which is annoying since my main is a champ, i never have anything to do
I think LOTRO Online was never about PvP, it was about environment and immersion into Middle Earth, and to participate in the great battle against Sauron and Mordor.
I really like the game, but for some reason I don't want to play it as much as WoW.. Maybe I'm over MMORPG for the moment.
