Maybe no one knows, but here goes...

I heard somewhere that you can use your old saves from ME1. And that characters you killed or died in part 1 wouldn't show up in part 2. Is this true?

If so... didn't Captain Shepherd die in part 2? aren't YOU the captain...?

yeah if you load your ME1 save you'll load the game ME2 brand new game and you'll see a cut scene that you've died and the game ends. Cut scene is about 6 minutes.

Yup, killed off characters don't exist. I thought I heard somewhere that Shepard wasn't "confirmed" dead, but it has something to do with the story. I just thought I remembered a dev mentioning he may be dead.

Oh great...where did u read that? So basically you will play another character....but the people that died in the first one won't be available too.... very smart system.

hope shephard wont be dead seems pointless carrying your character over only to kill him off immediately. will be interesting to see if a certain dangerous species you had the choice of wiping out or saving has any relevance in me 2

As said, it's true about the characters and the save game.

As for Shepard being dead, seems unlikely but still might be a possibility, however i think the suspense is more a marketing tool than anything and we can't deny that EA sure are great at this so it's unlikely to have a 100% confirmation on this.

I just viewed the latest interview video on ME2, and they said you can play ME2 straight from the beginning - the game will go in one direction - or you can load any of your ME1 saves, and the game goes based on the decisions you made in ME1. Sweet way to program a sequel.

I agree, as far as I remember this has never been done before.

Actually, I think I know why they're saying they that Shepard is dead. It's because they are introducing new species to play as!! :D

He's not dead, killing a main character usually means that 1) the enemy isn't as bad as he first thought and the "good" guys declare him dead and send people to kill him, 2) Udina or some other alien plans something that could destroy a lot of planets\kill people\etc just to destroy the Reapers, Sheppard makes a deal with the Reapers and as I said before the "good" guys declare him dead and plan to take him down, 3) They declare him dead so that he can go on a secret mission without the Reapers noticing them.

Anyway I could be wrong :P I didn't read the books, but anyway Sheppard can't be dead and I really want him to go against Udina and the corrupt council members (if there are any).

I wouldn't get your hopes up for this to actually be 100% true. Just think of how massive the game would have to be to continue on every possible decision you made in the first one.. and then just imagine the 3rd one.

From what I remember there are 3 major decisions, one of which decides the whole game, {SPOILER} the ending where you chose to sacrifice your men or the council (of course I sacrificed the council), killing Kaiden or Ashley (Kaiden, good riddance), killing Wrex (saved him). Altering the game to suit your choices for Wrex, Kaiden/Asley is easy, but the part with the council is pretty difficult, but they can be sneaky about it, if you save the council then Udina or Anderson will get a place in the council, so in ME 2 they can make a new council (due to I don't know what decision) and just use Anderson or Udina according to your choice + the humans helped the galaxy a lot and they were granted the highest rank in the council (this is to make the 2nd possibillity easy since the humans created a new council), making a new council will also be useful if you sacrificed the council to save your crew.

I doubt the whole process will be as complex as some of you think, I would like it to be more complex but a game like that would take years to make so imo this would be the only possibility to alter the game to your changes and still keep it simple.

Well...Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale let you import your characters from part 1 to part 2.... but it didn't affect the story in the second part so yeah...it hasn't been done before.

I'm wondering if you left out a couple of choices. (1) In the Medical Clinic, you seem to have an option of rejecting Garrus' assistance. (2) Same with Tali in the Ambassador's office. (3) Liara in the Briefing Room.

I preferred to always have every character available - although once I did choose to watch Shepard "off" Wrex  But I saved prior to, because Wrex is cool, and he's the best Tank in the game.

I didn't remember those :P. I've kept Garrus, but I have to say he is the most uncool Turian, but I love em :P especially Saren, best villain imo.

I believe during the upcoming E3 many questions supposedly will be answered in regards to the Shepard's fate. I'm just wondering how much exactly will they reveal w/o spoiling the game.
