That depends on what type of GPU you want to run on it. Most decent 450 or 500 watts PSUs can run most midrange to upper midrange GPUs, and most decent quality 600+ watt PSUs can run any single card. Multiple cards means more wattage, and more amps on the 12-volt rail. That amperage number is just as important as the wattage.

It all depending on what you plan on running hardware wise. But 600 watts or more is good and being 80 plus rated helps too.

The psu and gpu is really the only things you need to upgrade for now. Here's an idea

Here's a noob question for you all: How many of the PC hardware use up watts? I know the CPU and GPU do, but what else? When I look at mobos I don't see anything about how much watts they use/need.

The Northbride and/or Southbridge use power as does the RAM. Everything does take a few watts here and there, as well as the onboard GPU unless you;ve disabled it.

Why CPU and GPU are telling the powerrequirements are because they use much much more than HDD's /DVDplayers/Casefans/Ram modules/MB's do.

If you have a PC needing 350W that is a beast PC, it should house somthing in the line of a HD5870 (180W) a i7 (125W) heafty OC'ed and the rest of the hardware doing on the rest 45W. This is why they usally never rate the powerrequirements for MB's, HDD's, Ram modules...

Edit: GFX/CPU mainly use 12v, the rest on diffrent 3,3v/5v... ...
