I just got HL2 again and was wondering can I play this game with out going into steam or can I install it on my hdd so I dont have to be online to play the game????

It needs to use Steam, but Steam has an offline mode. Once it's installed and your disconnected, Steam Offline Mode will come into place.

Once installed you can play any offline steam game without using the Internet in anyway.
