Questions About Warcraft 3?

Ive been looking for an rts and i saw warcraft 3 but i have a few questions?

How many expansions are there and do i need all the expansions to play online?

What starcraft?

IS there a warcraft 4 coming out soon?

Do people still play online? How many?

1) There is one expansion (the Frozen Throne). You don't need it to play online, but the majority of the matches will be with the expansion. You can buy both in the 'Battlechest' for about 30 bucks

2)Starcraft is a game made by the same company. The two are completely unrelated outside of the 'craft' in their names.

3)Blizzard is currently making Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, various things on World of Warcraft and some mystery project. Don't expect to hear any announcements of it until at least 2012.

4) The online community is extreamly active and you won't need much work finding a game. This is also helped by Blizzard including a map maker, from which there are thousands of custom made games are made. If you ever heard of DoTA this is from WC3. Anything from chess to full blow RPGs are made and played on battle.net.

Drazule already said everything there is to say, but I'd add that Warcraft 3 is the most active RTS, it has well over 160K active players online any time, sure around 150K of them play DOTA, Tower Defence, Vampire, or other mods, but you will never have problems finding someone to play with online.

Warcraft 3....oh so many memories of College LAN parties. Now this is my own personal opinion and im sure you will come to your own conclusions but WC3 is a lot of fun and is a good beginners RTS since it slowly increes the difficulty as you progress through the campaigns.

If you are new to RTS I suggest going through the tutorial campaign it really helps you to understand the basics.

get War Craft then when you're confident enough try star craft.

Ok, not 100%. The main thought here is based off that somebody in an interview actually mention the word Warcraft 4. From that we know that they intend on it. I would look up some old starcraft 2 interviews, Around Blizcon 08ish time.

Warcraft, great memories. I owned so much at normal games and at DOTA. Or footmen wars. Or the touch the sheep game. Or poke the giant. Love the game. Too bad I lost my frozen throne cdkey. I stole a friend's friend key, but it as too much of a hazzle, I had to play in Europe because he played all the time. Anyways, TC, buy the game.
