I recently bought an XFX Radeon 4770 512MB card from Newegg, and it is awesome!! I went from a Radeon 3850 256MB card and the difference is amazing. I can play almost all of my games, even the newest ones at highest settings, except for Crysis of course. I can play it on all high settings with 2X AA at 30+ Fps. It is a great card. Even AoC, which is a pretty graphic demanding game looks great and runs at 30-45+ fps on all high settings. For $109 it was a good upgrade.

I hear those guys are amazing in CrossFireX. They easily out preform a 4890 for the same price. If you ever feel like that single card is showing a little age it'll probably be really cheap to get another for CrossFireX.

Also the 4870 is selling for $135ish right now, which is the best bang for you buck of any video card I know of right now.

You can play Crysis on very high? What CPU do you have? I only have an athlon X2 dual core 5000+, I think if I had a better CPU I would probably be able to get higher settings also. But it still looks really good on all high settings. I can't do DX10 either because I am still using winxp. How about you? Do you have DX10?

Think a 4770 is amazing? Grab a 5770 and you'll have the performence of a HD 4870/GTX 260. With barely any heat, and uses a lot less power.

yep, i bought it in on my new rig as i was looking for a budget/performance card to hold me over until the dx11 cards. however, I'm loving the performance so much that i think i can wait a while before going over to the 5xxx series. im thinking about cfx'ing it too.

yeah, me too. I will have to get a better PSU though. I only have a 500W right now. Works great with just the one card, but i'll probably need at least a 750W to crossfire.

I get 35 fps with my gtx275 on 1280x1024 :S

gunit3000

Exaclty, I have built setups for people over the past 6months that completely destroy the 4770 yet we get people saying "I play crysis at 35fps at 720p on very high with a $100 GPU...o_0".

Damnit even the reviews for the card are behind me the 4770 averages 30fps on high... very high you would be lucky to get a solid 20 with no AA.

probabely patch & newer Drive and the core i7 is overclock it sure but core i7 overclock isn't that hard and not that costy a mobo 200$ : Ram 100$ : cpu 245-265$ and then a cpu cooler 35-50$ then you'r goood for OC It at huge perofmrances

Tough ic an tell if you see how pc changed from 2007 price perspective to today it 2x cheaper and twice more performance per $ :D : 150$+ Was mobo back there and cpu mostly 250$+ for Dual core 3600 to 4600x2 and 450-500$ for Those 5600x2 today it just so cheaper and much better

how ever it up to people what they spend and if it worth it : A core 2 duo huge OC would probabely end up same result in 75% of game. so would an phenom II X4 but in benchmark you need to know x-driver - x-patch if game ad patch

i can show plenty of benchmark similar where it show a nice OC processor is mostly all in the same fps tough core i7 920 OC win in majority of benchmark such as Core i7 920 3.8Ghz at 66fps while a Phenom II X4 955 at 3.94Ghz woudl give 62-65fps and a core 2 duo E8600 from 55-60fps depending if the game is optimized for multi-core rather then just dual core

but even those game not made to get more power then from single core / Dual core does get boost from current core i7 / Core 2 Quad / Phenom II X4 If you Oc them at high Frequancy since you have less Cpu usage stress / and probabely bunch of what ever other reason behind it that i can't explain in simple word

how Ever in most of benchmark few game remain untouch by Frequancy at higher then 1920x1200 by more then 2-3fps such as if you ad 5870 1GB with E8400 3.6Ghz ot 4.0Ghz : no dif for Cryisis in fps but the system would have less stress and alt-tab faster and the overall speed of everything else would be faster in most of case

But anyway i tell those people who think they can max Cryisis with low gpu they need to provide a REAL VIDEo footage of those FPS with Fraps since fraps doesn't lie :P

It runs Crysis at about 35 fps at high in a lot of areas. But certain areas like entering a village with a lot of enemies, the frame rate can dip into unplayable levels - which sucks because that's were you require fluidity the most.

the hd 4770 is a tad scyzophrenic when it comes to preformance at times it out preforms the he 4870 but tohers it can even hold a candle to the 9800gt. he 4850 or 4830 are much more stable.

Too_tight_shoes

Sorry dude, but it's simple math.

1280x1024 = 1310720 pixels

1280x720 = 921600 pixels

So 720P has roughly 70% of the pixels that a resolution of 1280x1024 delivers. The numbers that vegita92 stated are correct, if he's running Crysis on a 15% (roughly) overclocked 4770 @ 720P he should be getting roughly 35fps

I know the difference in pixels from resolutions, I was just a little skeptical about the 4770... I still find it rather wierd since I get roughly the same with a 4890 with no AA at 12x10. Seriously am I the only one finding this unbelievable?!... :|, either way congrats vegita92 had no idea it performed like that when overclocked especialy considering reviews.

yeah it really do amaze me to know. how it beat the most of benchmark i'm still very septical but what he shown us seem to be undeniable a proof : i wonder how much he oc is 4770 : the cpu : the ram : the mobo :D even tough 1024x840 is less then 1024 so the performances are better since it render less pixel i wonder what would be test at 1280x1024 if it would change of 3-4fps ;)
