Not sure which is the better game?

Metro 2033 without a doubt, stay away from rage untill it's cheaper.
Not quite sure how Metro 2033 is 'broken' like the guy above me says.
If you pick Metro choose one of the ranger difficulties, it makes the game a whole game much better. (just don't abuse the volt driver!)
The games are about equal. But be aware, though: Metro 2033 is a tougher game, particularly during the stealth sections.
Currently playing Rage and I'm liking it to be honest. Thing is that the game had so much potential, but id just couldn't deliver. The game is beautiful, after upgrading my drivers I'm running the game flawlessly. All in all Rage is a good game that feels a bit arcadish, wait for it to reach $15-10 and give it a try.Is rage crap for coop? Been waiting till it sells for like 10-15 so could play it with a friend. It is atleast half the fun of Borderlands?

Rage has better shooting and multiplayer but that is the only thing it has over Metro 2033. For one the multiplayer on Rage is car combat only, which sucks and the whole Single Player game is just boring, to top it off it just ends to what you think should be halfway through, the story just ends and you get credits and it's like WTF?
Metro 2033 is just an amazing SP and very scary with so much atmosphere to give. However the game is alot buggier and the shooting isn't nearly as good as Rage.
Metro 2033. Rage is such a pile of crap. Even after updates, I still have massive texture pop outs, and choppy performance. John Carmack can suck it.DevilMightCryThe pop-in is 'his fault', the performance is AMD's drivers alone, and they're 100% at fault for them.

Id developed RAGE, not AMD, they are foremost responsible for making sure it works correctly on the hardware. If you develop a new graphics technology, you are responsible to make sure it works on the hardware, and you are responsible to work with the hardware manufacturer to make sure they are prepared as well. You can't just toss it out and then blame the hardware manufacture because their current drivers weren't prepared for it.
maybe metro? metro is kinda broken in a lot of ways but i think its a way more interesting game than rage. also ever since the ranger update metro has been way better. im VERY excited for metro last light
and they are both really pretty.

AMD BROKE their OpenGL component to their drivers, that's why the official 11.x drivers were fail, but preview v2 worked like a dream. It's not id's fault if AMD BREAKS their own drivers.

Couple of weapons and new difficulty levels.[QUOTE="Inconsistancy"][QUOTE="ferret-gamer"] I don't understand that sentiment at all. It's not id's fault if AMD BREAKS their own drivers. If this was the case on multiple games then I would say AMD GTH, but they hype a game to extreme and say it is PC oriented then they present this crap that runs like SH*T an all hardware well that pretty much shows all the huge effort they put into it, Im not even going into the the story.
And how many modern games use OpenGL? Oh yea, it's basically dead, so not that many.
Off the top of my head: Amnesia, Brink(idTech4), Rage(idTech5), Prey2(idTech4)... Maybe Call of Rehash, it is on idTech3 afterall.
And where the hell did you get the idea that it was PC oriented, Carmack said 103123129038x that it was console focused development, and later he said that was a mistake.

It's not id's fault if AMD BREAKS their own drivers. OpenGL on AMD isn't broken, they don't have the best support, but it isn't broken and wasn't when RAGE released. Also, the community fixed most of the problems with RAGE through config tweaks in the game before there were new drivers, the new drivers just cleaned up the rest. And again, even if were AMD bad OpenGL drivers to be at fault, it is Carmak's responsibility to work with AMD to make sure that they were working decently.
Absolutely false, the community didn't fix anything, all they were able to do was set the texture cache higher (which an option was added for this in the first patch.), the flickering/abysmal framerate, absurdly slow pop-in's were fixed by AMD NOT THE COMMUNITY.
AMD released the Wrong driver on Day1(11.10 preview1), 3 days after the game was released they released a second preview driver(11.10 preview2) that fixed basically everything(besides a few lingering issues that were on id's side, but not generally gamebreaking)
"...but it isn't broken and wasn't when RAGE released" Then explaine how a new driver from AMD fixed it.
The Rage patch added the texture cache, vsync and anisotropic filtering options, disabled UBO's that caused flickering of animations on AMD cards, and fixed issue where in Win7 32bit crashed after the first video (no one should have win7 32 anyway)
^id's fault, not id's fault below, which were gamebreaking: (and above, or in a ton of previous posts of mine, 'cause I've said it ~100 billion times{I'm on an AMD-5850 and had Rage day1, so I know first hand})
The patch did not in anyway address the flickering, tearing, slow popins, or framerate issues that AMD cards had, 'cause that was on AMD's side and fixed by a driver update.
Metro 2033 is much, much better. The story and the world is more intresting, graphics are better, the gameplay is much more fun offering a good balance of action packed sequence, story scenarios and missions where the game lets you play stealthy if you want.
I dont care, really I dont want to go into a flame war but the game was overhyped, it did not deliver and had to many problems from start. There are lots of developers who manage to bring games that worked at launch, not some unplayable BS. Its like they did not even fire up the game before release, they knew it wasnt working OK but they still launched it and thats the attitude that I dont like, I dont mind waiting for a game years but when it comes it should deliver afterall I am paying for it. All I care is a good game that delivers the promises made nothing else if the game is good people will like it and it will sell, if its not good then they can blame it on piracy AMD, NVIDIA, Intel etc.
They do give you a flash light you know that you can charge up for more power and you can pick up night vision later on in the game that and you can adjust the brightness settings so you can see more at the cost of lessening the atmosphere in the game.i did not play rage but i did not like metro 2033. it is very dark, really hard to see and the outside missions where you have to wear mask is really painful to play becasue you cant see damn thing. it is nothing like stalker.

I bought Metro on the Steam sale today. I really like the environment and the story so far is rather good. It is a little buggy and broken at time, but after a while you get engaged in the story and it isn't noticeable. So far I've really enjoyed it. ferrari2001Sorry I am not sarcastic I played through the game but what is all the bugs that everyone is talking about?

Couple of weapons and new difficulty levels.and some rebalancing and tweaks for weapon damage. it gives you access to some more powerful weapons earlier (not 100% sure about this, but pretty sure) anyway, its was a good update. play on normal first and then if you go through it again try it on "ranger"[QUOTE="ferrari2001"]I bought Metro on the Steam sale today. with that said, i still LOVE the game. incredible atmosphere, really fun take on combat and weapons. a linear shooter done right and done differently.

Dont know but on higher difficulties humans that have vests and masks on the face may take 2 shots to go down with shotgun but monsters go down with one if you land the shot, the actual gun play is not perfect its a little clunky but it adds to the depth of the game for me since I stealth-ed my my through the game with hellsing and throwing knives.I picked up Metro the other day for £3.75 and unfortunately I am not enjoying it. I have only got 40 minutes into it but I'm just not having fun, I dont know why. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for it, so I will give it a break and then come back later. I bought Doom 3 today and this game has pleasantly suprised me. Its a great game so far! Quite old skool too.
