So I have a problem with my Setup, I originally bought 2GB of 800mhz ram but the guy from the store (i have to buy store cuz my dad doesn't like importing... his money his decision) just putted 1GB, and my dad already paid for it, now I have a decision to make, either buy another 1GB stick 800mhz so it can run on dual channel or buy a 2GB stick for a total of 3gb (will be using 32bits), will loosing dual channel be that much of a problem performance wise? so... what should i do? I know I know, ram is cheap right? I would've bought 4 GB if I knew the difference was that little in the store I bought the pc, but I didn't notice till now and they won't change it, it doesn't matter though since I won't be using 64 bits but I don't know if getting the 2gb dual channel or 3gb single channel, thanks for your replies! :D

I dont think it matters really if your running 3 x 1 gb ram or if its 1x3 gbram

I maybe wrong but so longas its in, Its in and the proformance difference wont be HUGEEEE

But wait for some PC pro's to comment on this, they are the comments you want to read, this is a just a 'put your mind to rest' post :-)

Yeah I'll keep my eye on this. I'm not to sure myself. But it seems from everything I read that the more the merrier. But I have'nt tried either, so I couldn't tell you.

I would go with 2 x 1 GB RAM to be sure that Dual Channel is working. Losing that will impact performance, and frankly, 2GB is good enough for most uses - especially if you are running XP.

But perhaps I misunderstood your question...

I'm going to run vista, but 32 bits, and I need to know either getting 2gbx1 + 1gbx1 or 2x1GB (Dual channel), but I'm wondering what's better dual channel or 3GB

Actually i think its better to run 3 x 1GB because you're running tri channels but you do use up more space.

Memory bandwidth is a huge bottelneck for a fast CPU. That is why dual channel was invented :D

So by my book, 2 x 1GB (and thereby paired RAM) will be much better than having 3GB (1+2) - but check your motherboard manual to see if that configuration is supported.

BTW - Vista runs well bith 2 GB.

So.....on the note of Ram

How would 2 x 2gb of DDR3 Ram handle on 64bit Vista?

Whys DDR3 so good compared to DDR2?

DDR3 isn't actually better than DDR2 for right now. In the future though, it will widen the gap.

I don't have 64 bit, but on 64 bit you would have 4GB useable RAM. On 32 bit, you would only have about 3GB useable RAM (depending on your hardware).

As for DD2 vs DDR3
