Hello all. This X-Mas I bought 1 gig PC5400 RAM for my computer. I already had 2 gigs in there. Not realizing how DDR@ ram worked it only showed 2558 megs of ram in DXdiagnosis.

Well, I just bought another gig of ram and installed it today. My BIOS shows 4 1gig ram chips, but DX Diagnosis still only shows 2558. I have checked both dimms and they are working properly. What is going on?

You need a 64 bit os in order to use all that memory.

Are you using a 32 or 64 bit version of XP? If you are using a 32 bit version XP will only show 3.25 GB's out of 4 GB's. But it is telling you that you only have 2.5?

If you click on Start then right click My Computer and chose properties how much ram does it say you have?

You have installed all windows updates, bios update, chipset update.... overal updates?

Also, is the PC you're talking about the one in your sig? If not, can you tell us what hardware you're using.

Indeed, do what the poster on top says... click on start, right click on my computer for properties and you should see how much ram the system can see.
