as we all know, due to the cyclical nature of RAM prices, they are unbelievably high at the moment. any expectations as to when they'll be reasonable (or even better..dirt cheap) again?

My guess is when DDR3 becomes the norm. Right now there is a split between DDR2 and DDR3 ( prices of DDR3 are still high since it has yet to become the norm while prices of DDR2 are rising since they will begin becoming less availble as we will move to new chipsets that support DDR 3)

DDR2 RAM was selling for alot less than it was worth because there was such a huge excess of the stuff. But it should drop in price again early next year, when DDR3 RAM becomes the must have standard. It won't get as cheap as it was, but it will still drop. Are you looking for some DDR2 RAM right now?

I bought the 6gb DDR3 for just $54. I don't like how it's almost doubled in price right now.

i've been collecting parts as i see them on sale with plans of building a couple of new boxes, but i've been holding off on the ram due to exorbitant price points. i was aware of the overproduction of ddr2 -- i managed to snag 4GB of corsair xms2 for around 35 bucks last year for an older computer. i assume i won't be seeing any prices that low again?
